Virtual Fireside Chat with Elmntri CEO, Jeff Hsu

In June, we hosted a fireside chat with Jeff Hsu, CEO of Elmntri, who shared insights about growing startups from Taiwan.

Jeff is an entrepreneur who has made waves in multiple countries. He has founded multiple companies that have raised over $60 million, engaged nearly 400 million monthly users, and created value in all sorts of macro environments. It's all been preparation for Elmntri, a startup studio that aims to use first principles to address chronic disease.

Jeff’s experience has led him to recognize the unique advantages that Taiwan has to offer. He believes that with the right mindset, Taiwan can produce startups that can solve the toughest problems and compete in any market.

Watch our webinar replay to hear Jeff discuss:

  • The global startup ecosystem is changing (again), will Taiwan be left behind?
  • Why weren't there many startup unicorns from Taiwan?
  • Why do Taiwan startups struggle with barriers and growth?
  • What is the advantage of growing a startup from Taiwan?

Elmntri is a startup studio specializing in health, wellness, and performance. They back fearless founders who are passionate about solving complex health problems with a root cause and functional approach. Supported by top investors and founders worldwide, they build growth startups for the US market from Taiwan.

Community Happenings

Let's Save a Life Together — Join the Bone Marrow Registry!

Last week, our TAP-SF board was saddened to hear from a community member whose friend has been diagnosed with leukemia and is in need of a bone marrow transplant. We also learned two startling facts about bone marrow donation:

  • A patient’s best chance of finding a donor is through someone who shares their ethnic background.

  • Right now, Asian patients–including those in our TAP-SF community–are among the least likely to find a match due to a lack of donor representation.

But we can change that together. Please join us in saving lives as a community and for our community, both local and global.

Those between ages 18–40 can save a life by joining the bone marrow registry at Be the Match. Register and request your cotton swab kit today! It’ll take only a few minutes.

(Unlike some types of donations, bone marrow donation is actually minimally painful with few risks, not unlike giving blood. Donors are able to return to school, work and other normal activities within 1 to 7 days.)
