What will this grant fund?

This grant will help CRBC improve our Stash the Trash bag program which helps keep trash and recycling from entering the Clackamas River. The Clackamas River is a drinking water source for over 300,000 Oregonians. It is also home to wildlife including threatened and endangered salmon and steelhead.

With this funding, CRBC will:

Partner with Rivers of Life Center to rebuild 9 aging Stash the Trash bag stands along the Clackamas River and create one additional for Billy Goat Island.
Host three summer river cleanups (t-shirts and snacks provided).
Continue ongoing river stewardship outreach to promote river health.

*Rivers of Life Center is a North-West nonprofit training and education organization for at-risk youth and young adults.

What is Stash the Trash?

Each summer from Memorial Day to Labor Day, CRBC places Stash the Trash bag stands on the river at 5 locations: Barton Convenience Store, Carver Park, Riverside Park, Cross Park, and High Rocks. The River Ambassadors also place 4 stands out at locations only accessible by boat or float.

You can also find our bags on kiosks at Barton Park and Milo McIver State Park.

Stands are stocked weekly by CBRC, River Ambassadors, State Parks, City of Gladstone, and other volunteers.
