Sip and Saunter Event

Our evening in the garden with friends was delightful. We enjoyed sipping refreshing drinks as we leisurely sauntered through the garden. The soulful music that filled the air was enchanting, with piano melodies that seemed to drift across the garden.

In total, 107 guests, staff, and volunteers were equally captivated by the magical atmosphere. It was a memorable evening that we will all cherish for a long time.

A lovely evening to savor cocktails and beer generously provided by Dogfish Head Brewery, the proud sponsor of the Learning Garden at DBG. These delightful beverages paired perfectly with the delectable cuisine prepared by the talented team from Good Earth Market, with the assistance of DBG staff member Angie Phinney.

The Meadow

Visitors have marveled at the lushness of the meadow, admiring the timely blooms and the balanced arrangement of the perennials that seem to grow in wild, yet organized, harmony. Piet Oudolf, an expert in the field, describes this phenomenon as the maturation or evolution of a wildflower meadow, when the plants reach their full potential and concentrate on regenerating their species.

The plants have reached their optimal growth and have developed natural defenses against pests, diseases, droughts, and other challenges, ensuring their resilience and ability to complete their life cycle. Guests commented on the fullness of the meadow and complimented on the timely blooms and wild, yet orderly, meadow perennials.

The Piet Oudolf Meadow is at its best during early summer, with many of the top performing pollinator plants in bloom for several weeks.

We would love for you to join us and help us grow in the garden! Garden Steward and Docent opportunities are available. During July we have many plants to water and keep in check. Aggressive plants and weeds can take over quickly, so we need all the help we can get. Volunteering with DBG this season is a rewarding opportunity for you to contribute to our cause.
