Hot Dog Lunch!

Mark your calendars! The Top Dog Cart is rolling into town next Wednesday, June 28! Find us at the Gazebo by the river from 11:30AM - 1PM. Don't bother packing a lunch that day because we've got you covered with our mouthwatering hot dog combos for just $6.50!

Homeownership and You

Are you a TteS member that’s interested in becoming a homeowner? If so, on June 28th the housing department is welcoming Scott Flammand from First Nations Market Housing Fund. Scott will be available to meet with TteS members privately to discuss financial management, and help guide you in the direction of successful homeownership. Land Designation

Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc (TteS) Chief and Council need the consent of the TteS members to designate land for lease for the purpose of developing and providing social and affordable housing for TteS membership and their families. The next information meeting for members of Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc will be held on July 5, 2023, with Indigenous Services Canada between 5pm - 8pm, at Moccasin Square Garden. A virtual MS Teams link will be available, ensure you are signed up by emailing communications@ttes.ca

PharmaCare Plan W Program

Great news for Indigenous individuals with Status Cards! You can access many Over-the-Counter (OTC) medications for free through the BC PharmaCare Plan W Program. No doctor's prescription is needed, and eligible Prescription Drugs and medical supplies/devices are covered too. Just ensure you have Status, active MSP coverage, or a child under 24 months with a parent who has Status. Stay healthy and save money!

Summer Camp

Full Circle all day Summer Camp registrations for TteS Band Members now open! A fun opportunity for kids to get out, play and make new friends! Camp runs July 4 – August 25, 7:30am – 4:30pm. Activities include:

• Outdoor Trips
• Cultural Activities
• Sports
• Swimming
• Arts and Crafts
• And much more!

Download the registration form and email at youthcentre@ttes.ca or drop it at 1105 Kamloopa Road between 2pm - 6pm. 25 spots only!

Kindergarten

Registrations for 2023-24 at Sk'elep School of Excellence are currently being accepted via email. Please call the school at 250-828-9777 to arrange for a registration package to be emailed to you. Copies of supporting documents, including birth certificate, proof of residence, personal health number/Care Card, and Status Card, will need to be submitted with the registration package. Registration will not be considered until all documents are received. Preference for registrations will be given to TteS band members. We will contact parents in the summer to confirm registration.

Land Based Thursdays

Join us for Land-Based Thursdays until October 2023! Experience nature and learn traditional land-based skills every Thursday afternoon. Meet at Moccasin Square Garden at 1pm. Transportation provided. Just show up and be ready to learn! For activity schedules and inquiries, call Community Services at 250-828-9810.

Summer Employment Wage Enhancement!

New wage is $19/hr! Looking for an awesome summer job opportunity? Our Summer Employment Program is back, and we're looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our team. 

  • Must be a TteS band member
  • Age range: 15-30 years old

Drug Decriminalization Webinar

Community Policing Services hosts First Nations and Drug Decriminalization Webinar

First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) and Decriminalization: A brief look into the history of prohibition, the harms of criminalization of people who use drugs, the disproportionate impact on First Nations people, the advocacy work that got us here, the spirit of decriminalization and its intended impact, and what role the FNHA plays with this exemption and beyond.

BCLC Raises Flag

For the first time, the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc flag was permanently raised at BCLC’s head office in Kamloops on Wednesday, June 21, National Indigenous Peoples Day. The flag was raised to acknowledge that BCLC’s head office is in Tk’emlúps (the confluence, a place name referring to where the rivers meet); that our employees are guests of the lands’ rightful title holders, Tk’emlúpsemc (the people of the confluence); and that BCLC and our employees respect Tk’emlupsemcúlecw (the territory of the people of the confluence).

Coffee with Leadership

Tk̓emlúps band members, please join us for a cup of coffee and an open discussion with Kúkpi7 and Tk̓wenem7íple7! We'll be chatting about our community, culture, and anything that matters to you. This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with our local leadership and have your voice heard. Your input is valuable to us, and we want to hear what you have to say. Coffee with a Cop

On Wednesday, May 3 at 10:00 am, Moccasin Square Garden will host the upcoming "Coffee with a Cop" event. This gathering aims to foster a better understanding between Tk̓emlúps RCMP and community members. The casual setting of the event will offer a chance to engage in conversations over coffee and tea. The organizers hope that this initiative will further strengthen the relationship between the police and the community. Everyone is welcome to attend, and we look forward to seeing you there!

Musical Ride

Tḱemlúps te Secwepemc proudly participated in the 150th anniversary RCMP Musical Ride. Our awesome Language and Culture team started the night by singing O'Canada in Secwépemcstin. The special guest, Kúkpi7 Rosanne Casimir rode in on Wally, and was honoured to receive the VIP salute by the RCMP riders. Our Language and Culture team also welcomed the audience and drummed and sang two songs. Great representation by Team TteS! Thanks to all the volunteers that made this event happen.

Safe and Secure

Kúkpi7 Rosanne joined City of Kamloops Mayor, Council and staff along with MP Frank Caputo, MLA Peter Milobar, RCMP and Kamloops Fire Rescue to discuss the information gathered from the “Safe and Secure” engagement sessions that the City of Kamloops held. Key themes and discussion topics included: crime and prevention, social and health infrastructure, management of streets and public spaces and enforcement and the criminal justice systems.

Sunday Mass

Bishop Joseph Nguyen is holding Sunday mass services on the following dates:

  • July 2 at 1pm
  • August 6 at 1pm

We can't wait to come together again and worship in-person. See you all there!

Sweat Lodge

Community BBQ July 28

Mark your calendars for the Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc Community BBQ on July 28th at Tyee Park from 10AM to 3PM!

Join us for a day filled with fun activities for all ages!Jump around in the bouncy castles, test your aim at the dunk tank, and challenge your friends and family to some thrilling yard games. We have a special guest, Uncle Chris the Clown, who will be spreading joy and laughter throughout the event! Of course, Don't forget about the door prizes! Make sure to participate for a chance to win some amazing goodies.

Bring your friends, family, and appetite for delicious food, as we celebrate our vibrant community together. Let's make this BBQ an unforgettable day of laughter, games, and connections!

Powwow Volunteers!

Powwow Volunteers The 42nd Annual Kamloopa Powwow is only a few months away... and we need VOLUNTEERS! We have openings for: Concession, Janitorial, Gates/Parking, Maintenance, Security (Mandatory criminal record check for last 12 months). Ages 15 and up. Honourarium $12.50/hour. Canoe Pullers

Constable Dave Dixon is a skipper and looking to put together a canoe group interested in both local and travelling canoe journeys. This group is for individuals between the ages of 12 and 24. Secwepemctsín Certificate

If you're interested in getting a Certificate in Language Proficiency in Secwepemctsín from SFU, contact Gabriel Archie, Language Coordinator, at TteS. Limited seats. Classes will be held at TteS Language & Culture classroom in Kamloops. 2 days a week from 9am to 3:30pm. Program starts in September 2023.
