Summer is here and magic is in the air at Riverside. And it's not just the plants that are enchanting - we also have our very own unicorn visiting us for the season! Read on to find out more...

Riverside's unicorn is here!
Mike the Microbial Unicorn has now arrived at Riverside! Decorated by artist Emma Burleigh, he is one of 60 unicorns that are popping up in the Bristol area as part of Unicornfest, a magical trail around local landmarks. Each beautiful unicorn has been individually designed and painted by some of the South West's leading artists. We think Mike is gorgeous and can't wait for you to meet him!
Unicornfest runs from 1 July to early September and is part of the 650th anniversary celebrations for Bristol. The trail is also raising money for Leukaemia Care - each unicorn has a QR code you can use to make a donation. What to do in the garden now
We've come to that time of year when the garden is filling out and bursting with flower, and hopefully you are finding time to sit back and enjoy it. As for jobs in the garden, the main ones to keep on top of now are weeding, watering and deadheading.
This is also a good time of year to fill any gaps that have appeared in your borders or pots. We have loads of fantastic perennials in our 9-cm range that are perfect for this (and are a bargain too at just £2.99 each!). We also have plenty of larger plants that can be dropped into the border for instant floral effect. Our selection of grasses is also increasing as the summer progresses. These can be a wonderful way to add extra height or texture to your planting.

Escape to our Tropical Island
Add an exotic, holiday allure to your garden this summer with a visit to the 'Tropical Island' display in our bedding department. Choose from lushly leafy Bananas and Cannas, vibrant Coleus and Lantana, the heavenly scent of Heliotrope and much more. These plants are excellent for making potted arrangements with a real 'wow' factor, and can also be used as yet another way to fill out any gaps in beds and borders for the summer.
