| Rep. Doris Matsui visits a “Test to Treat” Site that Advances Digital Health Equity | Rep. Doris Matsui visited a COVID-19 community testing site hosted by the UC Davis Center for Reducing Health Disparities (CRHD), where uninsured patients with a positive diagnosis can get immediate access to a medical provider on a telehealth tablet.
The Digital Health Equity Program is the result of $1.7 million in federal funding that Matsui helped secure for UC Davis Health’s Digital Health Program, which seeks to improve access and continuity of care for vulnerable populations in the Sacramento area, in addition to Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Sutter, Tehama and Yuba counties. | Media Stories: We are permitted to share certain media stories publicly. The Licensed Physicians from Mexico Pilot Program is featured in the California Health Care Foundation Blog: Doctors From Mexico Treat Farmworkers in California |
In an effort to alleviate the shortage of Spanish-speaking and culturally responsive physicians in California, the Licensed Physicians from Mexico Pilot Program (LPMPP) will bring a total of 30 physicians from Mexico to provide medical care to Latino/x farmworker populations in Monterey, San Benito, Tulare, and Los Angeles Counties. These physicians will received a 3-year license to practice medicine in Federally Qualified Health Care facilities. Physicians’ specialties include family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, and obstetrics and gynecology.
The Center for Reducing Health Disparities oversees the evaluation of the LPMPP program. The evaluation includes both quantitative and qualitative assessments to measure the program’s impact and outcomes. Evaluation results of the program are expected in 2025. Stay tuned for more!

MOVE IT UP - That’s a Wrap! |
June saw the end of our test-to-treat operations through the MOVE IT UP² Project. The project had great success in bringing COVID-19 tests to underserved communities and had a telehealth component which allowed patients who tested positive at our clinics the opportunity to speak to a provider via telehealth. Our project provided over 6,000 tests from 10/1/22 – 6/30/23. We were also able to provide several people with access to telehealth services and prescriptions for antivirals through our partnerships with WellSpace Health and Ampla Health.
To close our project we brought together the many people and organizations who made this project possible. This celebration of the impact we made and the amazing people who contributed to this project and made a difference. |

For more details on our test-to-treat accomplishments, please visit the project’s dashboard. Thank you to everyone who supported this project! |
