The AI Reliant Robin .. for 2073

It seems these days that Generative AI is everywhere as constant floods of various AI technologies rapidly soak into every aspect of our lives, indeed, as I type this, Elvis is on his laptop working on a corporate policy for the company he works for on how Generative AI will be used within the company.  Whilst there are those that think it will enhance our lives for the better, there are also those who think we are all doomed and that Terminator style androids will take over the world.

Naturally, here at the RMC, with 2023 being the 50th anniversary of the Reliant Robin, our thoughts of how Generative AI should be used were to feed it with all the key components of a Reliant Robin and ask it what would a Reliant Robin be like in 2073.

The results were somewhat interesting with renderings either having 2 wheels at the front or with the back wheel and front wheel being aligned and the third wheel in the centre somewhere, a bit like a motorcycle and sidecar layout.  Strangely it offered no designs with one wheel at the front.  You can see more renderings in our June 2023 magazine along with more 50th anniversary celebrations for the Robin.  Please bear with us though as our June edition will be slightly delayed and is scheduled for early July.

We hope that everyone has a great Summer.

Take care,

Caroline

A Reliant Robin called Gwen - Now Available

2023 is the 50th Anniversary of the Reliant Robin that was first introduced in 1973.  With that in mind Elvis Payne has written a new humerous book entitled, A Reliant Robin called Gwen.

Everyone remembers their first true love and the feelings that it conjured up and it is said that everyone also remembers their first car, whether it made them smile or maybe even curse the day they met it. For Elvis, his first car came in the shape of a 1974 Reliant Robin that served him during his college and university days from 1991 to 1994. Over that period it carried 139 people, 6 dogs and a 1 eared cat called Beethoven. With a laughing seat and front water pistol, the Robin created more memories in its few years of ownership than most cars can create in a lifetime. This is the story of a Reliant Robin called Gwen.

Stocks on Amazon seem to be delayed at the moment with stock anticipated in 4 - 8 weeks although  the book is currently available on the Lulu Press website for £10.70.  For those who are quick there are also a few author signed copies still available on e-bay.
Reliant Robin heading for 300,000 miles

Graham Unwin's 1980 Reliant Robin is certainly not afraid of eating up the miles and, in 2004, it clocked up 250,000 miles since Graham's father first bought the Robin brand new in 1980.  Still often used for daily commutes the mileage currently sits at 290,000 miles.  Graham estimates that with the annual milage having now dropped to around 2,000 miles a year it will be around another 6 or 7 years before it clocks up its 300,000th mile ... and what an amazing achievement that will be.

You can read more about Graham and his 290,000 mile Robin in our June 2023 magazine.
