Welcome to the SmartSPIN Newsletter!

On 18th and 19th April 2023, the SmartSPIN consortium gathered at the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) to discuss the project status and progress since September 2022.

18 months of intense research and innovation action have passed by and now we find ourselves halfway to success. The SmartSPIN consortium has been working hard on progressing the ambitious goals of the project to remove the current market barriers for integrating smart energy services in the commercial rented sector. Thereby, successfully develop a new business model beneficial for all parties involves.

But even if the first results developed by the SmartSPIN project are tackling the split incentive issue in the commercial rented sector, we are still halfway to getting an innovative business model to unleash the energy efficiency and flexibility potential in the commercial buildings. In the upcoming months the consortium will continue working to improve the viability of the innovative energy services across Europe.

Let’s continue working together!

The Proceedings of the "Smart Energy Services" clustering event are NOW available!

The “SmartEnergy Services” clustering event organised by SmartSPIN and facilitated by EGEN and PNO Innovation Belgium were held on 25th April and 17th May.

The two online workshops brought together top research centers and industry currently involved in EU-funded projects aiming to improve the energy efficiency and flexibility of European buildings.

It was a good occasion to learn valuable insights about the projects' objectives and activities related to the smart energy services in Europe.

Should you wish to refresh your memory, you can access the overview and presentations of the event.

SmartSPIN joins the Smart Energy Cluster!

We are thrilled to present our group of 19 Life and Horizon projects who will be working together in the next years to make the smart energy transition a reality.

Through the common aim to develop, conceptualise and deploy new business models and concepts which fully tap the economic value and the wider benefits of integrated services, we will work to overcome the fragmentation of markets and segments and to enhance the cooperation and trust among different services providers and market actors.
