Community Art Project: It Takes a Village First Free Workshop: July 6
The annual Community Art Project is back this summer at the Niagara Falls History Museum (5810 Ferry Street), led by local artist Rachelle Wunderink.
Niagara Falls residents of all ages are invited to participate in FREE community art workshops at the Museum in July, August and September. These workshops will feature live music, and alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.
The project called 'It Takes a Village' will involve creating a city composed of individually collaged miniature houses. These houses will be installed throughout the Niagara Falls History Museum lobby for the Niagara Falls Night of Art on September 21.
The project is inspired by individuals who struggled in the isolation of their homes throughout the pandemic. This installation reflects Niagara Falls residents' resilience, representing our community's strength.
Free all-ages workshops at the Niagara Falls History Museum will run from 6 pm - 8 pm on the following dates:
July 6
July 20
August 3
August 17
August 31
September 14
Community participants are invited to come and collage their own house, selecting images representing home comfort or memories from magazine clippings. It's an opportunity to connect with others and collaborate on the art installation.
Registration is not required. Materials will be supplied. All ages are welcome!
Rachelle Wunderink is an interdisciplinary artist currently based in Niagara Falls who was recently awarded Canada's SSHRC Graduate Scholarship for her MFA Thesis exhibition at York University.
