Annual Budget 2023 - 24

Council’s 2023-24 Annual Budget and Capital Works Program was adopted at a Special Council Meeting on Tuesday 11 July, 2023.

CCTV To Improve Boaties’ Safety

Boat users will be able to park their cars and trailers with more confidence following an $82,000 security upgrade at Council boat ramps.

CCTV cameras and improved lighting will be installed at Port Douglas, Sugar Wharf, Cooya Beach, Newell Beach and Daintree River boat ramps by August, 2023.

Council will soon be releasing a tender for the creation of a Register of Pre-Qualified Suppliers for Wet & Dry Plant Hire.

Sustainable Waste Management

We all need to play a role in finding solutions to reduce waste in our Shire.

What could your community group do with $35,000?

The Gambling Community Benefit Fund is now open.

Not-for-profits and community groups in Queensland can again apply for grants of up to $35,000.

Applications close at midnight 31st August

Flying Fox Funds

A flying fox roost management plan will be developed for Port Douglas thanks to a $42,000 grant announced by the State Government this week.

Once funding is received, Council will hire ecologists and environmental consultants to prepare the plan which will support local communities co-exist with flying foxes.

The aim is to maintain the roosts without causing ecological harm to the flying foxes or disrupting local community activities
