MEET THE CAMP SQUAD: ALICE + RORY
|
|
We're so excited about the team of ~40 all-around experts we've put together to teach, inspire, and care for our campers this summer at Amplify. So, of course we want to tell the world about them! Meet ALICE, who joins us this summer as MUSIC VIDEO/FILM MAKING INSTRUCTOR/COACH.
"I'm a Film and Television Producer from Glasgow, Scotland, with over 10 years' experience working in the industry for companies such as the BBC, Netflix, and Sky. I currently direct and produce arts documentaries in Scotland but am taking a break to come to Amplify this summer. I LOVE making these rad music videos and documenting all the awesome things going on at camp all summer.
I'm new to Amplify, but I've been involved with a Girls Rock school in Glasgow since 2017. It's always the highlight of my year as I love working creatively and helping young people develop through art and music, so I'm stoked to have the opportunity come and get involved with Amplify this summer. I'm also a musician in my spare time and play guitar, bass, and vocals, plus a little tinkering on fiddle/violin and keys. I currently play in a band named VITL in Glasgow and love playing gigs around the city, but my favourite thing is having a big jam sesh with other musicians. I love nature and the outdoors, I like to swim and boulder, and I love crafting and making things. I can't wait to meet and get creative with even more campers + staff all this summer!"

Meet RORY, who's been an Amplify camper for years and finally joins us this summer as COUNSELOR 😎
"I am someone who is always collaging, dancing in parking lots, and looking to try new things. I am very passionate about people, art, and beetles. Music has always been a part of my life, even if my technical skills only include kind of being able to play Mary Had a Little Lamb on the alto saxophone, and I have been attending Amplify since 2019. Amplify is, and I mean this fully, the MOST AMAZING PLACE I have ever been. Each summer, I meet incredible people, make irreplaceable memories, and leave knowing so much more about community, authenticity, and the art of rocking on.
This is my first summer as staff (YAY!), and I couldn't be more excited to get to help make the magic happen! Not only do I get to spend more time at my favorite place in the world, but I also get to do it ALL SUMMER!?!? WHAT?! I feel like I'm dreaming."

One of our very own program participants, AVERY, helped create and run a brand-new rock camp this summer! Girls Rock Custer (South Dakota) ran June 19–24 for girls leaving grades 4–7, encouraging positive self-esteem through music education and performance.
