MEETING LOCATION UPDATE

WE’RE GETTING CLOSE!

As of today, it looks like we’ll be meeting at Otterbein. The detail that remains to be answered is, where at Otterbein? There are two options that we may have to mix and match, based on availability:

  1. Otterbein’s Campus Center: 100 W Home St, Westerville, OH 43081

  2. Otterbein’s The Point: 60 Collegeview Rd, Westerville, OH 43081

MORE DETAILS TO COME!

Jon Hill Approved for Membership!

Jonathan Hill lives in Westerville and has two children, a son who turns 4 at the end of the month and his daughter who will be 2 in October.  Jon’s Grandfather was a founding member of our club, and his dad was a founding member of the Sunrise Rotary Club.  Jon’s hobbies are snowboarding, hunting, and sailing (he said before he had kids 😊). His sponsor is Jim Meacham, and his classification will be Funeral Home – Management.

Jon is the Vice President of Hill Funeral Home where he works with his Father and staff.

This is the first of two publications required by our by-laws.  If you have any concerns or objections to either of these two applications, please submit them to the secretary at www.wencaptain@msn.com.

Rotary/Star House Kickoff Event

Our Club has invited the Sunrise Rotarians and guests from our community’s faith-based organizations, service groups, and city offices to attend our Club’s meeting on July 27th to learn more about the initiative to address the growing problem of youth homelessness in our community.

The keynote speaker will be Ann Bischoff, CEO of Star House, the nation's only drop-in center for homeless youth ages 14 - 24.

Learn how community-minded individuals and organizations can participate in this effort to help our young people at a critical time in their lives.

We encourage Club members to extend this invitation to your faith-based service organization and community contacts that you feel are interested in this topic. Please register your guests with John Oleyar (joleyar@sbcglobal.net) or Ellen Cathers (emcatw837@gmail.com) so we have a headcount for the meal.

DETAILS:

  • When: Thursday, July 27th

  • Where: Medallion Club - 5000 Club Drive, Westerville

  • Time: Doors open at 11:45; the Program begins at Noon

Build Beds!

Please join your fellow Rotarians in helping build beds with Bed Brigade, located at 171 E. 5th Avenue, Columbus, OH 43201 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, August 5, 2023.

If you haven't worked with Bed Brigade before, don't worry, no experience is necessary!  All the wood is cut and just needs to be assembled.  It's an incredibly smooth operation. Bed Brigade is scheduling this build specifically for our club, so please come out and help. We would like to get 20 people to help build beds!

If you are unfamiliar with Bed Brigade, they build beds for people, mostly children, who are in need of a bed. For many, this will be the first time they will have a bed of their own. Along with the bed, Bed Brigade provides bedding, a pillow, a blanket, a stuffed toy for the children, and a Bible. Bed Brigade works locally with WARM, Neighborhood Bridges, and many other organizations to identify the need for beds.

Questions: Please contact Jodi Fletcher at 614-891-2952 or at jofletcher@breezelineohio.net
