I hope everyone is having a great Summer (Here in the Northern hemisphere) and that you are making some progress on building your projects. I attended the Guild of American Luthiers Convention in Tacoma, Washington two weeks ago, came home and left early the next morning to go and teach a high gloss spray finishing class with finishing expert, Jeff Jewitt, at the Marc Adams School of Woodworking this past week. This is the second year we have taught this class and it is so much more than a finishing class! Jeff and I bring over 50 years of combined experience to the class and nothing is off topic. We even covered how to capture frequencies of the soundboards and alter the top thickness before applying the finish. We also glued on bridges and did setups in the class.
Our friends at Stew Mac sent a bunch of freebies and other swag that was given away to students that attended the class. If you were unable to attend, Stew Mac has created a special promo offer just for the O'Brien Guitars and Lutherie Academy followers. It will get you 10% off many of the products that we used in the finishing class. Here is the LINK for the offer. It will end July 31st at midnight EST.
If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram  you saw a bunch of posts with progress pics recently. Here are some more in case you missed them.

I will be teaching a couple of classes again next year at the Marc Adams School of Woodworking in Franklin, Indiana. I will teach a 5 class inlay class and a weekend two day French polish class. Go ahead and mark your calendars for the week of September 30 - October 6. I will be sending out more info about that in the future.

When you get this newsletter I will be landing in Frankfurt, Germany. I am going to visit Gernot Wagner.  He is the inventor of the double top guitar. I will be spending some time with him in his shop and posting pics on my Facebook and Instagram pages. So, be sure and follow me on social media.
Enjoy the rest of the Summer!
