Dear Friends,
If you were in church last Sunday, you will recall how joy filled it was. We welcomed 54 visitors through the celebration of Nathan Leyva's baptism and a visit from our ecumenical partners from Trinity Lutheran Church. Some of you may already be aware that our friends at Trinity have been engaged in a period of discernment. They sold their building four years ago in order to focus their attention more on outreach and ministry, rather than spend down their resources maintaining an aging building. We can certainly relate to that, for the costs of maintaining our own buildings increase every year. In those four years they have been renting space at Holy Family in Park Forest, and they are now discerning their future and where they will worship. We were approached a short while ago to consider renting space to them and, along with our Vestry, I have been in conversation with their leadership team. I want to share with you today, that on Sunday, the Vestry voted unanimously to invite Trinity Lutheran Church to come to St. John's. This is an invitation only; the specific details have not yet been worked out and their congregation has not yet voted to move. This is the beginning of a much larger conversation and there are many opportunities for us to engage in shared ministry together. It is my hope that we will also engage in shared worship from time to time, particularly since The Episcopal Church and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America are in full communion partnership with each other. If this relationship proceeds as we expect it, Trinity will be renting space in the Atrium and we will be working together to renovate that space to meet their needs. The Vestry and myself will keep you informed of any progress as we proceed. If you have any questions about this possible relationship, I encourage you to please be sure to ask myself, the Wardens, or any member of Vestry. In the meantime, please keep the people of Trinity Lutheran in your prayers as they continue to discern their future, and keep our leadership in your prayers that we will make wise and faithful decisions.
Grace and peace,
Fr. Jeremy+

Eighth Sunday After Pentecost
Almighty God, the fountain of all wisdom, you know our necessities before we ask and our ignorance in asking: Have compassion on our weakness, and mercifully give us those things which for our unworthiness we dare not, and for our blindness we cannot ask; through the worthiness of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

We are always looking for more helping hands to keep this outreach program up and running.
Volunteers meet just once a month, on the last Sunday of each month, and work collectively to shop, assemble, pack, and delivery food to individuals and families in need.
The main goal of the Family Food Share ministry is to assist food-insecure families in the Bloom Trail High School district.

Parish Office Copier Usage & Maintenance
Sadly, one Sunday last month, our printer was damaged and rendered out of commission for 3 days.
To reduce the risk of damage and expense, the printer room will be closed after 2pm Monday through Thursday, all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If you have a printing job for the Church or in support of our Community Mission, Ellen is available to accommodate your request. The item(s) needed can be emailed to office@mysje.org or can be placed in the mailbox labeled Parish Office.
There are forms in that mailbox for Copy Requests. Please don't forget to leave your contact information so you can be alerted when the copies are ready for pick-up.
Thank you in advance for your support.

What if you had a way to give free money to the work and ministry of St. John's? Well there is!
By signing up with RaiseRight you can do your shopping (at most of the stores you are already shopping at) with prepaid cards and RaiseRight offers a percentage of what you spend back to St. John's. There is NO cost to you.
This is also a great way to purchase gift cards to give as birthday or Christmas presents, or just a little something for yourself.
To sign up, please contact
Pat Smith at sjescrip@gmail.com.
The next RaiseRight order will be submitted at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 30th.
