It’s time for the annual Book Harvest Block Party and you’re invited! Join Book Harvest and community partners on Saturday, July 22, from 1-4 PM at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The concourse will be transformed into a massive celebration of kids, books, and summer!

The event is free to attend, and there will be free, high-quality children's books for kids to take home and keep.  Plus, activities for the whole family! We will be joined by local favorites including The Poetry Fox, The Carolina Theatre, PBS NC, Durham Parks and Recreation, Total Koality, Durham Public Schools, and more. Plus, magic shows by Happy Dan the Magic Man!

That’s not all: the first 300 attendees will receive a $5 voucher for concessions and there will be cookies for everyone!

There is no cost to attend and free parking is available. The event will be under cover and will occur rain or shine. Check out all the fun from last year!

Developed by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction specifically for families, this resource aims to offer preK-5th grade students and their families access to activities that support skill-building in the areas of reading comprehension, vocabulary, phonics, and more! Laid out by grade, then skill and offered in multiple languages, this easy-to-navigate tool offers everything from explanations of terms to videos to online games for skills practice. There is lots to learn and discover! We hope you take the time to explore it and that you find exactly what your family needs to continue down the path of reading enjoyment and school success.

Book Harvest unveiled its brand new Storywalk® at Edison Johnson Recreation Center in Durham on

Friday, July 14, 2023! Stop by to take an afternoon stroll down the trail and read the story “What Do You Do with a Tail Like This?” by Steve Jenkins (Author, Illustrator), Robin Page (Author), Carlos Calvo (Translator). The book will be updated monthly!

Stories from the Start is a bilingual storytime for babies, ages 0-2, which runs on Thursdays from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM. In addition to the story, there are songs/music, nursery rhymes, and a movement activity.
