Education Partner

Decatur Makers, Georgia Tech, and the University of Oulu, Finland teamed up to offer a series of AI & Ethics Summer Workshops, inviting kids into the conversation about the future of technology.  From an AI emotional support cat, to a weather station that predicts a year in advance, to puppet shows debating the merits of brain chip implants and grammar vs. quantum physics, these kids went big with their imaginations, learning and leading along the way!

Thank you!

The Make It Up! Improv Show and Silent Auction were a huge success!  Thank you to everyone who donated, bid on an item, bought a ticket, and came out in the storm to laugh with us.  And a big thanks to Dad's Garage for both their kindness and hilarity in hosting this awesome event.  We can't wait for next year!

Maker Highlight

Check out this folding Adirondack Chair!  Jay, a self-described novice woodworker, worked from Lee Valley plans to create this awesome summer lounger, learning many woodshop tools along the way.
"I gained experience with the table saw, compound saw, band saw, drill press and other tools.  I made a number of mistakes but learned a lot."  Jay plans to create cardboard templates, to make his next chair a breeze.

Learning by doing is the Decatur Maker way!

Save the Date!

West Ponce businesses will open their patios and parking lots transforming them into stages for a day of free live music and fun for the fifth annual West Ponce Music Stroll on September 9. Bands will play at businesses along West Ponce de Leon Avenue throughout the day. In the evening, a large stage outside The Marlay will host three bands to culminate the event.

Proceeds will benefit the all-ages non-profit makerspace Decatur Makers. For more details about bands, the Makers Market, scheduled events, and sponsorship opportunities, visit GoWestPonce.com.
