2023 Cultural Heritage Grant Application Now Available
BISMARCK, N.D. – The Cultural Heritage Grant Program provides grant funding for local museums and historical societies for exhibits, special projects or events, education activities, collections, and capital improvements. Applications for the 2023 Cultural Heritage Grant are now being accepted. Completed applications must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30.
Heritage Training Scholarships, Main Street Community Education Grants, the North Dakota Museum Assessment Program, and the Archival Supply Purchase Grants are also available through the grant program. Heritage Training Scholarships are available for local and county historical society staff members to participate in training opportunities. Main Street Community Education Grants provide grant funding to projects that have a focus on enhancing history education and opportunities to students in grades K-12. The North Dakota Museum Assessment Program provides a grant to city, county, or regional historical societies, museums, and history organizations to perform an in-depth review of their organization and develop a long-range plan. Archival Supply Purchase Grants provide grants for local and county historical societies, museums, and archives to purchase archival supplies. Grants for training scholarships, history education, and archival supplies will be awarded throughout the biennium until the funds are exhausted.
Applications and guidelines for the grant programs are available at history.nd.gov/hp/grants.html or can be requested by contacting Grants and Contracts Officer Amy Munson at 701.328.3573. Funding of $500,000 for these grant programs was authorized by the North Dakota Legislature. The Cultural Heritage Grant Program has been administered by the State Historical Society since it was first created in 2003.
