Saskatchewan's finances are strong!
A $1.58 billion surplus achieved at year-end of 2022-23 enabled the province to retire $1.5 billion of the provincial operating debt, saving $66 million per year in estimated future interest costs.
"Saskatchewan has the second-lowest net-debt to GDP ratio among the provinces, and continues to have the second highest credit rating," Deputy Premier and Finance Minister Donna Harpauer said. "Our finances are strong and we are continuing to manage expenses carefully while investing in priority programs, services and capital projects for Saskatchewan people."

PREMIER'S DINNER - June 15, 2023
The annual Saskatoon Premier’s Dinner was held at Prairieland Park on June 15. Premier Scott Moe inspired the capacity crowd with a speech that detailed how our province is economically thriving and why Saskatchewan is in a position of continued growth for the next decade and beyond. It was also a terrific opportunity for me, as the Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Immigration and Career Training to meet and listen to several newcomers to our province as they spoke so highly of all the opportunities that our province has to offer!

SaskEnergy is applying to the Saskatchewan Rate Review Panel (SRRP) for adjustments to its commodity and delivery service rates.
SaskEnergy will submit a proposal to the SRRP for a 22.1 per cent decrease to the commodity rate, dropping it from $4.20 to $3.30 per gigajoule. At the same time, SaskEnergy will also bring forward a proposal for the SRRP to consider a five per cent delivery service rate increase. The combined commodity and delivery service rate adjustments will result in an overall bill decrease of approximately $5.66/month ($68 per year) for the average residential customer.
If approved, the overall bill decrease will take effect on October 1, 2023.

Over the past few weeks, SaskPower contractors have been working to replace power poles along Centennial Blvd. between Central Street and Highway 305 in Warman.
But, it's more than just replacing aging infrastructure.
The pole upgrades in Warman are part of an Urban Economic Rebuild project consisting of two phases, both of which are currently in construction. This project was required as Warman’s initial power feed came from the Martensville substation on feeder MRV-583 which experienced high load growth due to Warman’s new development in the summer of 2019. To offload MRV-583, a second feeder, MRV-522 was brought in north of Warman.
In the summer of 2021, both MRV-522 and MRV-583 feeders recorded peak loading, with MRV-522’s undersized conductor having issues coping. To avoid overloading and power quality issues, this Urban Economic Rebuild was designed to increase the conductor size along with poles of greater height, that will allow for a second circuit if needed in the future.
These rebuilds have a combined budgetary cost of approximately $1.1M. These upgrades allow SaskPower to continue to provide reliable power in the City of Warman and to meet new and expanding customer load growth in the future.
This is growth that works for everyone!

On June 30, I had the opportunity to visit with Satish and Meenakshi as they celebrated their first anniversary of ownership at the Esso On The Run store on Centennial Blvd and Pebble Beach Blvd in Warman. To show their appreciation for the past year and to say thank you to their customers, they served fresh samosas along with birthday cake.
Congratulations Satish and Meenakshi and best wishes for many more years of success in our business community!
