Visit Lake County Launches
Road Trips Campaign

Visit Lake County launched its summer campaign restoring last year's Lake County Road Trips concept in late June.
VLC's extensive, exciting summer campaign revives the bureau's nostalgic tagline, "Let the Ride Take You," with creative imagery and messaging as part of an overall sentiment for travel and experiencing destinations via a car ride or road trip.
The VLC summer advertising effort features summer co-op campaign partner, a longtime favorite and ever-evolving attraction, the Volo Museum and Jurassic Gardens.
The campaign showcases five road trips encouraging visitors to create an adventure on Illinois arterial highways: Illinois Route 21, U.S. Route 45, Illinois Route 83, Illinois Route 41 and U.S. Route 12.
"Let the Ride Take You" includes digital and native advertising, TV, streaming TV, outdoor/billboard, radio, banner and print ads running through mid-August, and a memorable "road trip" itinerary-based webpage on our site.
The campaign media flowchart includes spots on ABC 7 Chicago WLS-TV, WGN 9 Chicago, NBC 5 Chicago WMAQ-TV and various networks on interconnect cable, five billboards located along Chicagoland area highways, various spots on streaming video, live remotes on WLS 94.7-FM (at Park on Park in Mundelein), WOJO 105.1-FM (at El Puerto Mexican Restaurant in Fox Lake) and WDRV 97.1-FM at Volo Museum and Harbor Brewing Lakefront Biergarten), two live interviews on WGN 720-AM, commercials on WBBM 780-AM, and WDRV-FM in broadcast radio, an insert in the Chicago Tribune and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Google Display and YouTube ads and social media.
VLC also conducts two giveaways graciously donated from Great Wolf Lodge Illinois (two overnight stays) and SIx Flags Great America (four tickets).

Enjoy Illinois Chicago Bears Training Camp
|
|
On select days between July 27- August 10, Visit Lake County will sponsor the Enjoy Illinois Chicago Bears Training Camp for the third year at Halas Hall in Lake Forest. Other partners participating in the event include The Forester in Lake Forest, Hawthorn Mall and Bears Fit in Vernon Hills.
Bears Training Camp gives VLC valuable awareness as a destination, with thousands of attendees viewing the dress rehearsals. Visit Lake County will host a sweepstakes via Facebook and Instagram for a chance to win two tickets to camp on Friday, August 4.
Camp visitors will park at Hawthorn Mall in Vernon Hills and be shuttled to and from Halas Hall. VLC created a landing page to house details on the training camp.

DCEO and Illinois Office of Tourism Announces Daniel Thomas as Deputy Director

 The Illinois Office of Tourism announced on July 1 its new deputy director is Daniel Thomas.
Thomas is a familiar face you may have seen around VLC's Annual Luncheons and Partner Forums.
Daniel has been immersed in the Illinois tourism industry for over 10 years as CEO and Tourism Strategist of TimeZoneOne, the PR and trade marketing agency of record for IOT. A lifelong tourism professional spanning hospitality, hotels, attractions and aviation, he is no stranger to global tourism and brand development. Daniel is a long-time Chicago resident but hails from New Zealand.

Visit Lake County is in the process of our annual partnership renewals. We will email the invoices soon. Individuals will need to log into IDSS to view the copy to pay via PayPal or print the PDF to send a check. You can contact Jayne with questions or to arrange payment.
Your partnership benefits will continue through June 30, 2024, and includes a full website landing page and inclusion in the Visitor Map Guide with a plotting. The Libertyville Economic Development Commission is seeking nominations of businesses for their local contributions to the community and economy. Nominations will be accepted through July 2023. The Commission will identify two establishments in each category (Community Impact, Economic Impact, Development Excellence, Advancement and Notable New Business) for promotion in Village publications. Businesses will be notified of their selection in October 2023.
