2) Pandemic Food Relief Effort, supported by the City of Minneapolis


Hot Asian meals pick up at Asian Media Access' office for Minneapolis families in need. Started in June 2023 and is on-going. Must be a Minneapolis resident to qualify.

Pick up on Wednesdays only from 5:00pm - 6:00pm. Limited to 13 families each week with 3 meal boxes per family, regardless of family size. Each family is supported for weekly pick-up for up to 4 weeks.

Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community has so much to celebrate this summer, especially many cultural programs and agencies have showcased the resilience through their longevity, as well as  shared our cultures at every corner in MN.

AMA successfully concluded our summer 9-weeks Youth Media Force training


Asian Media Access collaborated with the Step Up program to provide an enriching experience for interns. Step Up provides youth placement in internships that provide a foundational work experience with deep and intentional mentoring. This experience will prepare youth for more challenging positions in the future and make a more equitable workforce. With Asian Media Access, the program emphasizes a combination of technical learning and communication skill building, along with learning professional development. This year was the first year back in person after three years of working exclusively online.

WeAreOne Chinese Language Camp is another success this summer


Asian Media Access sponsored the We As One Chinese Language Camp, a week-long immersion camp focused on embracing Chinese culture and language. Campers participate in learning and practicing different cultural related dialogue and hands-on activities. Some of the activities include Chinese cooking, embroidery, books, calligraphy, and board games.

The curriculum was designed based on the Intercultural Communication Competence (ICC) theory.The goal with this ICC theory is to help teachers foster student’s ability to communicate effectively and appropriately in various cultural contexts with their knowledge of world language and culture.

Korean Cookin’ Show with Exclusive Midwest Tour at Children’s Theatre Company from September 12 to October 22

Experience the the beauty of Han Character with fun activities.   ust like how Latin has influenced multiple Western languages, Han characters have also influenced many cultures in Eastern Asia. Han characters are still used today in many Asian languages. Han characters not only play a key role in Chinese culture, but are also a valuable element in understanding the centuries-long transformation of their shape, the beauty of Chinese calligraphy, and the wisdom behind the creation of each character. This year, the Han Character Festival will be held in a park outdoors with a carnival style. Many booths with fun activities in store will be set up.

The program includes soprano solo, mixed chorus, piano playing and singing, erhu solo, string quartet, two pianos, flute and piano ensemble, harmonica solo, folk song collection, etc. The content is wonderful and rich. Now in its third iteration, the FilmNorth Inclusive and Socially Conscious Filmmaking Lab is a six-week course designed to help filmmakers in any stage of their career practice greater inclusive and socially responsible filmmaking and become leaders of change in our field.
