NEW PAUILLAC, SAINT-ÉMILION GRAND CRU, HAUT-MÉDOC, BORDEAUX RED, WHITE, AND ROSÉ PRE-DEPARTURE OFFER.

When I started my winemaking apprenticeship in Bordeaux in 1998, good value-for-money wine was hard to find but, due in part to a warming climate, even at everyday prices Bordeaux consistently now delivers elixirs of aromatic intensity, smooth body, and high drinkability. Today's new shipment showcases these modern Bordeaux classics at value-for-money prices and is scheduled for delivery to us in November at which point the prices will rise over 20% above what you can get them for here today - if any remain. These wines will only be available on our website at these Pre-departure Offer prices until midnight tomorrow evening, Monday August 14th, or until stocks last. Mixed selections are welcome and freight is free. There are four reds, one white, one rosé, and one Suggested Mixed Dozen in today's offer.

>>> If you set up a username and password when you are ready to check out, you will automatically receive a further 10% discount if this is your first order from our website. See below in the How to Order section for the details on this.

The wines are listed in order of increasing price.

The wines in today's Pre-departure Offer are:

1. La Fleur de Fonrozay Bordeaux rosé 2022, made by the wine growers of Saint-Émilion. NEW VINTAGE.
Cabernet Franc/Merlot.

Perhaps the most unexpected revelation of the last 20 years is that Bordeaux makes extremely good rosé and while prices of rosé from other parts of France have shot up, Bordeaux rosé has remained very reasonable.
The aromatics here offer bright berry fruits, floral notes with delicate leafy complexity, talcum, and rose water, while the palate is crisp, dry, and light as a feather.

Drink now to 2026.
Post arrival price will be $21.95.
Today's pre-departure price is $17.95

2. Château Petit Mouta Graves Blanc 2022. New label.
90% Sémillon, 10% Sauvignon Blanc. From the village of Mazères where I began my winemaking apprenticeship in 1998.
2022 saw the return of a ripe streak to this crisp dry white that brings about the magical synthesis of the edgy backbone from the Sauvignon with the generous fruit of the Sémillon. Light and crisp but with local Graves authenticity and depth of flavour. A pillar of our portfolio.
Drink now to 2027.
Post-arrival price will be $26.95 per bottle. Today's pre-departure price is $21.95.

3. Château de Rouzerol 2020 from the Castillon district of Bordeaux, ten minutes from Saint-Émilion. NEW VINTAGE.
Pure Merlot.
Meaty, dark berry fruit, great intensity and depth. Medium-full bodied palate, fresh and smooth. A cracking any-day-of-the-week red with the kind of flavoursome individuality and structure that could only come from Bordeaux.
Drink now to 2024
Post-arrival price will be $27.95 per bottle. Today's pre-departure price is $22.95.

4. Château Grand Clapeau-Olivier Haut-Médoc red 2019.
A blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot. The 2019 vintage of this wine is such a doozy that it has been awarded “Cru Bourgeois” status, an upper echelon quality certification awarded by the authorities in Bordeaux to particular wines that excel in a given year. For a wine this inexpensive to become a Cru Bourgeois is a serious feat.
The fruit is intense and clear, blackberry and oak, rich and mellow, with spicy notes and notions of leather, while the palate is full and smooth and massively drinkable. Classic claret and exceptional value-for-money.
Drink now to 2028.
Post arrival price will be $31.95. Today's pre-departure price is $25.95

5. Château de Béchaud Saint-Émilion Grand Cru 2020. NEW VINTAGE.
34% Cabernet Franc, 66% Merlot. Barrel matured.
Lifted perfume, ripe and inviting, dark blackberry fruit, meaty roast, smoky oak, vanilla and earth. Palate is very smooth but powerful and full with creamy notes and satisfying length. Very fine Saint-Émilion Grand Cru from an outstanding vintage with a bright future.
Drink now to 2030+

Post arrival price will be $59.95. Today's pre-departure price is $48.95

6. La Croix des Aubrais from Pauillac 2020. NEW TO TOB.
A blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, and 8% Petit Verdot.
Pauillac is arguably the dominant red wine district of Bordeaux, being home to behemoths such as Château Lafite Rothschild and Château Latour, and is a global mecca for lovers of fine red wine and Cabernet Sauvignon in particular. Pauillac makes Bordeaux's most cellarable reds and 2020 was one of its greatest vintages of recent years. This wine was made in the cellars of legendary Pauillac estate Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse Lalande.
Dense dark fruit with a polished sheen, slick and intense, but shrouded in a perfume of violets, cedar, tobacco, smoke, and oak, while the palate is full and firm, mouth-coating with silky body and serious slaty tannins. Powerful but stylish and built for the long haul.
Drink now to 2035+
Post arrival price will be $72.95. Today's pre-departure price is $59.95
