ASC Recruitment Guide

The Department of Health and Social Care’s national recruitment campaign “Made with Care” aims to raise the profile of the adult social care sector as a rewarding and stimulating place to work, and support care providers’ existing recruitment efforts to recruit the dedicated staff they need. By inspiring people with the right values to consider a career in social care, the campaign will increase the number of quality candidates applying for roles in the sector. Your organisation can make the most of the national campaign by:

  • Running local recruitment activity at the same time
  • Advertising your vacancies on DWP “Find a Job”.
  • Making use of the campaign materials

This toolkit will guide you through the range of free downloadable campaign materials, templates, and expert advice on offer for you to use when recruiting staff as part of the “Made with Care” campaign. Please take a moment and read through the brochure and provide any feedback on how this has been used:

Infection Prevention and Control

The South West UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) will soon launch a new web-based Care OBRA Tool for Adult Social Care settings, allowing acute respiratory outbreaks to be reported online without the need to call or email the Health Protection Team (HPT) first, thus saving valuable time.  The new web-based Care OBRA Tool is due to be launched the week of 7 August 2023.  Once the new process is launched further information will be circulated including the link, a QR code to the new webpage and a poster. Please see attached PowerPoint for more information.

IP & C can provide some training for doffing and donning and handwashing.

The IP&C workshop will be taking place in September, please let Jordan know any topics and other infections that would be useful to present.

For both, please email: Jordan_Brunton@bathnes.gov.uk

Google Reviews

Google reviews provide useful information and help your business stand out. It also helps people share their experience.  People can go online and list their thoughts about the organisation without having to download an app. Another way for families, professionals etc to feedback could be by using a wipe board and/or leaflets as shown in this example which was on display at one of our care homes.

KPI Data Submission Dates

Key performance indicators (KPIs) are targets that help you measure progress against your most strategic objectives. We collate these on a quarterly basis and as a requirement of the contract the performance of the Services shall be monitored by the Council in accordance with the Contract, Risk Management and Quality Monitoring of Care Homes Policy, the terms of this Individual Service Agreement, the Services Specification, the Key Performance Indicators, and the respective ISA Forms for Service Users placed at the Home.

The deadline submission date for Quarter 1 was the 16 July 2023. There are still a number of KPI’s outstanding. Please ensure these are submitted by no later than 11 August 2023.

COMPASS

We have become aware of a company named COMPASS who are based in Barnstaple and appear to be preying on vulnerable relatives and are offering a service to complete FNC and CHC assessments for a charge - they have just charged relatives of one B&NES service user who was in residential care 12K for two assessments both of which were not agreed.

If you are contacted by a relative asking about this service or a similar service, could you please reassure them that the referral for an FNC or CHC assessment has been requested from the BSW ICB (Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Integrated Care Board) FNC & CHC team.

The good news is that the BSW ICB team are now reducing their waiting list.
