Inside Out Therapy Update

Happy August to our IOT Families!

At IOT we are all very excited for not only the EKKA but the EKKA Holiday.

Please note that the Moreton Bay Ekka Holiday is Monday 14th August, therefore our clinics will be closed.

We hope that all of our families get to enjoy their nominated EKKA Holiday, doing exactly what you want and there is happiness throughout.

Inside Out Highlights Reel
In keeping theme with the mighty MATILDA'S, we have been witnessing our amazing clients kicking some goals within their sessions of late!!

It is always such a special moment when a client makes progress, without any warning - whether it be a certain sound they have been working on, or a new word pops in conversation or a reaction to not winning a board game... what may seem little to others, MEANS so much to us!

No matter how challenging and busy life can be, we see day in and day out - our clients and their families working towards their goals and this needs to be celebrated.

So to all our families - do not doubt yourselves, we see you and
YOU ARE DO AN AMAZING JOB!

Save the Date

Another reminder to save the date for Inside Out’s third Birthday party.

We have locked in a date of Saturday 14th October from 9:30am- 11am with the popular and fun theme of Disney.

Service Highlights
Hi there!

My name is Olaysha and I am the new physiotherapist at Inside Out Therapy.

I am currently in my third week of working for this wonderful neurodiverse-affirming clinic, and I am immensely enjoying it so far.

Working for a neurodiverse-affirming clinic means that we put each person first, with a large focus on regulation and choice during the session.
Sessions can include things like; ball games, hopping, movement-based play and designing an obstacle course we can enjoy together.

Assessments are done in a variety of ways and will very rarely include hands-on assessments if your child is uncomfortable with them.
This is where we differ from traditional therapy which can be very structured, and deficit based. By allowing the child to lead our sessions and work towards goals in a way that is comfortable for them, I believe that we are doing a lot more justice to the term therapist (and also have a lot more fun doing it!)

If you would interested in booking a session with Olaysha, please contact our admin team.
Staff Highlights

Our spotlight this week is on our magnificent director Mellissa Kyriakacis.

We are all reading this newsletter today because of Mel’s vision and determination. Mel opened Inside out back in 2020 with just herself and her then almost graduated AHA, our beloved Lou…then covid hit.

It says so much about the unstoppable optimism and clarity of Mel’s vision that we now have two clinics and 12 passionate team members with more on the horizon!

She is our fearless leader and whether she is at Burpengary or Kallangur, supporting families, educating and inspiring her team or sniffing out new gems to bring into the team she is enthusiastic, dedicated and buzzing with ideas.

Melissa’s energy and positivity is contagious and she immediately puts you at ease with or without her much adored by all furry sidekicks!

We would be hard pressed to find anyone as dedicated to the cause as Mel. Mel’s lives and breathes child lead, neurodiverse affirming, trauma informed practice and tries to allow everyone who meets her to learn something.
This is clear with every post on social media. Mel is behind the scenes creating it all because she believes knowledge is power and she wants to share her knowledge with everyone.

We can all agree Mel's vision has created something unique and very special to all of us and we want to say thank you Mel!

Socials Highlights
Our socials have been a little quiet over the last fortnight, as we fight off - hopefully the last of the flu season. Keep a look out though, we have plenty more coming your way!

Here is a little snippet of what we did post...

"Connection is a child's deepest need and a parent's highest influence." - Lelia Schott.

.

The importance of connection is undeniable. The importance of connection between us as parents and our kids is fundamental in supporting their development as little beings in the world.

.

Connection supports safety. Safety and connection together  is the platform for all skill development.

.

Our kids emulate us and want to be just like us. Our kids copy us and want to follow what we do.

.

Spending time in connection with them creates an opportunity to influence how they will grow and develop.
