Circle of Grace Training

Monday, October 2 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Circle of Grace is a Christian safe environment curriculum used and promoted in the CRCNA that helps teach the value of positive relationships with God and others. Circle of Grace educates and empowers children and young people to actively participate in a safe environment both for themselves and with others.

Facilitators: Faye Martin, BC Safe Church - Abuse Prevention & Response Coordinator and Liz Tolkamp, CRCNA Congregational Ministries - Regional Catalyzer

Online only

Target Audience: Sunday school directors/coordinators, children's pastors, coordinators, ministry leaders, and teachers, GEMS and Cadet leaders and counselors, junior youth leaders, youth pastors, youth leaders, children, and youth mentors.

This Fall - Hearts Exchanged is a learning and action journey designed to equip Reformed Christians to engage with Indigenous people as neighbours. It's a great way to learn more about the history of Canada. You can participate in a cohort with people from your area!

A Strange New World:
New Testament Reading and Discussion Group

Join the spiritual oasis of a monthly discussion group for an unhurried discussion about the tender, tough, and even strange claims of the New Testament.

First time or long-time readers of the N.T. equally welcome! LDN alumni may find this group a particularly needful time of refreshment and re-connection

Facilitator: Wilma van der Leek (MA, Regent College; BC LDN)

Location: 1Life Learning Hub, Fleetwood CRC (9165 160th St. Surrey)

Schedule: to be decided by the cohort (likely first Monday evening of the month, October-May)

Target Audience: council members; small group leaders; all in need of spiritual refreshment and grounding in scripture; LDN alumni especially welcome

Healing Hearts, Transforming Nations Retreat

HHTN Facilitators, George de Vuyst, Reggie Smith, Barbara Pennings & Anne Duifhuis gathered at Rivendell on Bowen Island for a time of strategizing and planning. While we had hoped for participants to do the actual learning, God had other plans and our willingness to accept and go with that was rewarded. The upcoming events and the program in general is going to be much better supported due to this time that facilitators could set aside.

Celebrating a 1Life Milestone

Your 1Life team is so glad to announce that Liz Tolkamp, chair of 1Life and our Faith Formation curator, has completed her Master’s of Science in Restorative Practice and graduated from the International Institute for Restorative Practices in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Many of our BC CRC churches have already benefited from Liz’s excellent, clear teaching on restorative practice as well as her wise and open-hearted facilitation when restoration is needed in community or between individuals. Congratulations Liz! Thank you for pursuing and completing this degree which already has borne such good fruit in your leadership in the BC CRCs. You’re helping us live into the story of God’s renewal of all things, especially our continued need for renewal of relationship.
