Covid Antivirals: Paxlovid Alliance Stock Issue

Please see message below from the regional NHSE Team

We have been made aware that much of the Paxlovid stock being held by Alliance will expire within 3 months. This has resulted in the stock being removed from saleable supplies in line with standard stock management procedures. Whilst new stock is filtering through to Alliance, stock warnings may have been triggered to some pharmacies placing orders.

The short-dated stock is held in quarantine and therefore locked on their IT systems. Alliance can still issue the stock, but not as an automated process.

In the first instance, Pharmacies should speak to the Alliance team to ask for supplies from the short-dated (< 3 months expiry) stock.

If you experience any oral antiviral supply issues, Regional colleagues can contact the team at DHSC, who can assist in resolving queries.

Kind regards,

Covid Antiviral Team

In case you missed it: Hypertension case-finding service - you must use an IT system from September

NHS England has announced that pharmacy owners will need to use an NHS approved clinical IT system to make their clinical records and payment claims for the Hypertension case-finding service from 1st September 2023.

All service provisions within June, July and August 2023 should be claimed by the current manual MYS process by Tuesday 5th September. Claims at a later date will only be possible via one of the approved IT systems.

Find out more information in the correspondence that should have been sent to your store email here.

Reminder: Foundation Training grant applications will only be actioned via the NHSBSA MYS portal from September 2023

For the attention of all community pharmacy contractors with a foundation trainee pharmacist (formerly pre-registration pharmacist) for the 2023-2024 training year

To facilitate a more streamlined procedure for payment of the foundation training grant (formerly pre-registration grant), NHS England is working with NHSBSA to implement an electronic registration process via the Manage Your Service (MYS) portal. This new process, which will replace the current locally managed application process, is in the testing phase and is due to be launched in September.

Please note: Training grant applications will only be actioned via the NHSBSA MYS portal from September 2023. Full details on how to register for training grant payments via this new process will be provided in due course.

Payments will be made monthly in arrears, with the first payment covering any months between the time the employer applies for the grant and the time the trainee began their training. Full details on how to register for training grant payments via this new process will be provided in due course.

Until the MYS functionality is live, please do not send any training grant applications via email to Integrated Care Boards or the email addresses below, as these will not be actioned.

If you have any further national questions, please contact: traineepharmacist@hee.nhs.uk.

If you have questions relating to the 2022/23 foundation training grant (formerly pre-registration grant) or any regional queries, please contact the relevant NHS England Workforce, Training and Education regional team:

Goodbye and thank you to our Administrator Hazel

Many of you will know that Hazel Sisson has been our administrator at Community Pharmacy Lincolnshire for almost a decade. During this period she has flawlessly organised us all and kept all of our administration in check.

We are sad to say that Hazel will be moving to a new role at the end of August and will not longer be working for us.

The committee at CPL want to express our thanks to Hazel and wish her every success in the future - she will be sorely missed.
