Special sessions and CBFA 50th Anniversary celebration
Festival of Cape Breton Fiddling - 50 years ago there were over 100 fiddlers on stage for the Glendale Outdoor Concert of 1973, which gave rise to the Cape Breton Fiddlers' Association (CBFA) and started the renewal of Cape Breton Fiddling around the world. For the 50th anniversary CBFA is hoping to have even more fiddlers on stage, and we are going to help them remotely from Ottawa! Details below.....

SESSIONS
Sun. July 30 - Pub Session - 2pm to 5pm. Open jam session at the Royal Oak Hunt Club at Uplands! We are taking advantage of an extra Sunday in July to add a pub session that is easier for east and south end folks to get to. It'll be our usual down home Scottish, Irish and Cape Breton music session, just in a different location. Come check it out and let us know what you think of the venue. Fiddlers, guitarists, piano players, whatever - or just stop by to listen and chat with the friendly folk at the pub. Aylene Gracie leading today.
Sun. Aug 6 - Pub Session - 2pm to 5pm. Open jam session at the Barley Mow, 1541 Merivale Rd. If you didn't get enough fiddle music at the Glengarry Games on Saturday you can get more at today's session. Everyone is welcome to join us for some down home Scottish, Irish and Cape Breton music. Fiddlers, guitarists, piano players, whatever - or just stop by to listen and chat with the friendly folk at the pub. A great way to make new friends who enjoy traditional music. Sun. Aug 20 - Pub Session - 2pm to 5pm - 50th Anniversary of Cape Breton Fiddler's Association. Join the Festival of Cape Breton Fiddling massed fiddle performance virtually at 3pm EDT at the Barley Mow, 1541 Merivale Rd. If you can't be at St. Ann's for the 50th Anniversary of the Festival of Cape Breton Fiddling, you can still join the massed fiddle concert with us! During the regular 2pm-5pm session we will coordinate with the CBFA at the festival to play the Juanita Jig Set. The folks at St. Ann's will send a text when they begin to play, and we'll start playing at the same time. We'll livestream our group on Facebook and the number of players we have in Ottawa will be added to the number of players on the stage there. Download the notation HERE. Even if you can only manage one of the tunes, or part of one of the tunes you are welcome to join us playing a tribute to the Cape Breton Fiddler's Association!

Please DO NOT attend any of our events if you feel even slightly unwell. We ask that you be respectful of others who wish to wear a mask and keep their distance.
Open Jam Sessions: 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month at locations as specified on the website. Sessions are led by Aylene, or sometimes other folks. This session is a mix of session and solo playing, let us know if you have something special to share with the group. Sheet music permitted. Generally a pretty fast pace.
Jam ouverte avec concentration sur les pieces de l’ile du Cap Breton, de l’Écosse et de Glengarry. Apportez un instrument ou venez partager une chanson avec nous. Ou, venez savourez la musique et notre plaisir. On ne sait jamais qui s’y présentera, mais c’est certainement toujours un groupe avec un accueil amical avec qui passer l’après-midi.
