Thank you for your forbearance during the current restoration works in church, which are progressing well. So far, the al-fresco Sunday masses have been celebrated without rain and our courtyard has been full of joyful singing.
We have been so blessed that all of the structural work and restoration has been almost entirely funded through a bequest from the estate of our late and dearly beloved Churchwarden, Rachael Floyd. This generosity has released our church-family from the burden of fundraising.
But as we reflect on how much we have been blessed by this gift it is important that we look outwards from our beautiful church to the needs of the world. And so over the next year I will be inviting you as a congregation to support small charity projects, both home and abroad.
The first of these is to help build teacher’s accommodation in partnership with our linked Christians in Ghana, who have recently built a new school in a remote village as a centre of education for the surrounding area. Currently the new teachers will have to sleep on the school porch but raising just £3000 will build one of five family houses.
Later this year we will be hearing from the Simon Community and supporting their work with the homeless in Camden as winter approaches.
Finally, please put Saturday 30th September in your diary when we will celebrate the completion of the church restoration. Bishop Jonathan will be us with to celebrate a choral mass at 10am followed by drinks and canapés, a short talk and then lunch.
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap; for the measure you give will be the measure you get back.
