Nala has been adopted!

We are excited to announce that Nala has been adopted by her foster mom and will be a permanent resident at her mini farm. Nala is healthier and happier than ever in her home and under her mom's expertise, diet, and exercise plan. This is the best ending for Nala we could possibly imagine! Congratulations Nala!

Elvis found a foster family!

That’s right… Elvis has left the building!

He has moved under the care of a wonderful foster family right down the street from the rescue. He has his very own stall and paddock, and lives aside a mare named Mollie and a sheep named Ella. Elvis even has access to a very large pasture and gets a lot of much deserved attention from his human. We are so very happy for our sweet, gentle giant. Congratulations Elvis!

Welcome New Herd Members!

Join Us in Welcoming Lari

Lari is a beautiful senior mare who was rescued by EOI in June. We are still getting to know her, but she is showing us so far that she is curious, friendly, and affectionate. This rescue is very special to us as EOI was recently the recipient of donations in memory of Ania Wise of California. Ania had a passion for horses and a life driven by her desire to love big. The sum of donations were enough for us to rescue and care for a horse for over a year. We are incredibly touched to be able to further our mission and take in & provide the best care possible for Lari in memory of Ania.

Meet Patch!

Patch is handsome senior paint gelding rescued by EOI in June. Patch is incredibly friendly, gentle, and welcoming of human affection. He requires a full mash diet, a program we are well familiar with for our other seniors! Patch is currently looking for supporters through our Mane Membership program to help with his grain and medical care. Learn more about sponsorship here.

Welcome Back, Java

You may remember this beautiful Warm Springs mustang, Java. Java was with EOI many years ago and was successfully adopted, but honoring our lifetime commitment to our horses, she is back with us sadly due to the passing of her wonderful adopter. We have been told Java is slow to trust so until we understand her more, we are being quiet and gentle with her and taking her cues.

Volunteer Spotlight

This month, we are recognizing a wonderful member of our volunteer team - Meet Lance!

Lance hails from Seattle, but you’d never know he’s a city slicker without any prior horse experience. Lance started volunteering with EOI in September 2022 as a mucker and it wasn’t long before he joined our dedicated team of feeders. When Lance isn’t busy feeding the herd, he has put in a great deal of time making improvements to our facilities, including added storage and building upgrades to give our humans a dry, clean, temperature controlled place to prep food and meds.

Lance is a deeply kind hearted soul and has great compassion for the entire herd. It was hard for him to choose, but his favorite horse is Casino because she is brave, has been through so much, and shows her love and appreciation to those who saved her. Lance is always grateful for what the horses give back to him in return.
