AI chatbots could fill gaps in postpartum depression support and care


Along with the physical challenges of childbirth, postpartum depression is an additional concern for many new mothers. In Texas, 1-in-5 women experience postpartum depression, surpassing the 1-in-7 national average, according to state health data.


At the University of Texas, a specialized research lab focusing on postpartum depression is working on a tool that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to bridge the gap between mental health care and support for women facing symptoms of the condition.
