Another first week of school is in the books at LAUSD! I was thrilled to welcome students and families, help out with some math problems, and see one of our newly expanded “Universal Transitional Kindergarten” classes bringing our youngest learners to the classroom.
This was just the first week of what I hope will be an exciting new year of academic progress, socio-emotional learning, and holistic support. As the fall semester gets underway, our work continues to ensure every student can reach their full potential—and that every school community has the resources and support they need to foster that success.
In the Community: The Latest from Board District 4
Welcome back, LAUSD! My team and I made it out to over 40 schools across my district, and look forward to joining our students, families, staff, and community members for many more visits as the year continues!
In the Spotlight: Emerson MS aide supports the transition back to school!
It takes the hard work and dedication of so many wonderful school employees to make the transition back to school as smooth as possible, and Emerson Middle School is lucky to have campus aide Paula Ridgle there to help out as a new school year gets underway. Since graduating from LAUSD's Manual Arts High School, Paula has been an employee with the District for over 40 years, including the past 32 years at Emerson. She is always there to greet students and families with a smile and help out with whatever they need!
