“We give thanks” in Haitian Creole.

Our hearts are full of thanks for you, our donors and supporters, who have steadfastly supported Grace Community Birth Center from its conception through its opening and now serving the Grand Basin community. You answered our call this year for more monthly donors, and we have 42 loyal monthly supporters who are ensuring that Grace’s budget is increasingly stable. Without ALL of our generous donors, Grace would not be providing the beautiful families pictured in this update with safe, respectful care. Perhaps one of our mothers says it best…

Watch a New Mom Give Thanks for GCBC

Grace gives thanks for the honor of assisting families with their births! Many of our women would have no option for a birth close to home, at a place that would treat them with respect, and have a track record of quality outcomes. Grace is providing these women and their families with an unmatched opportunity to begin their families with health and empowerment. These beautiful faces say it all!

Without the staff Grace would not, could not, have happy, healthy families at the end of the day. We especially want to give thanks for Director, Ninotte Lubin, who has not had a break in several months.

The birth center, as many of you know, is Ninotte’s brain child and she has worked tirelessly to see it be launched - it is very hard work and she does it with fortitude, skill, and a beautiful heart.

In addition to our midwives, Grace has three nurses who assist the midwife attending the births, prenatals, and postpartums. Please meet (from the left), Carthia Alcindor, Manuella Joseph, and Vanessa Augustin.

They are integral members of the birth team providing an extra set of hands to the midwives, emotional and physical support to the mother, guidance to the father and other family members attending the births, and clinical and education support at prenatal and postpartum visits. These lovely women are certainly on the list of items we give thanks for!

To continue this amazing work, we would be most thankful to add you to the list of supporters who becomes a monthly donor or simply makes a donation. Whatever it is, we THANK YOU!

Grace Team in the Community

Grace is more than a birth center. About 100 women from area churches ranging in age from 25 to 60 were educated by Team Grace on cervical cancer screening.

Board of Director’s Update

The officers were recently elected to the board, and they are:

Kathi Mulder, President

Kate Mazzara, Vice President

Craig Mulder, Treasurer

Melinda Parenteau, Secretary

The board is a small group at this time and includes one member, Lynette Biery, in addition to the officers. We would love to add your energy and talent.

If you have a desire to support the families that Grace is serving, please reach out to Kathi Mulder at kathi.mulder@gmail.com to discuss how you might join our work.

Fundraising is a critical task for the board at this stage of operations. Thank you, Melinda Parenteau for raising about $3,000 at a Canadian Gospel Conference. We are learning how best to manage and operate a facility that we recently worked to build. It’s like homeownership -you’re never really done.
