The Key Indicators for Asia and the Pacificseries presents the most recently available economic, financial, social, and environmental indicators for the 49 regional members of the Asian Development Bank.
This 54th edition finds that an estimated 155.2 million people in developing Asia and the Pacific, or 3.9% of the region’s population, lived in extreme poverty as of last year—exceeding pre-pandemic projections by about 67.8 million people. The report finds that poor people have been most hurt by the increased cost-of-living crisis and provides an in-depth examination of the challenges they face in having to pay a premium for many essential goods and services.
