DUT ALUMNUS IS AWARDED THE KADER ASMAL FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME TO STUDY AT MASTER’S LEVEL IN IRELAND’S MUNSTER TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY
Alumnus, Thembelihle Isaac Hlongwane is flying the Durban University of Technology (DUT) flag high after he was successfully awarded the Kader Asmal scholarship to study for his master’s in Public Relations with New Media at the Munster Technological University for the academic year 2023-2024. The euphoric Hlongwane is expected to start from September 2023 to August 2024.
The Kader Asmal Fellowship Programme is a fully funded scholarship opportunity offered to South African students to study at master’s level in Ireland’s world-renowned Higher Education Institutions.
DUT SHOWCASES ITS STAFF AND STUDENT AUTHORS AT THE DURBAN INTERNATIONAL BOOK FAIR (DIBF 2023)
The Durban University of Technology (DUT) showcased its staff and student authors at the Durban International Book Fair (DIBF) 2023 held at the Globe, Suncoast in Durban from Wednesday, 09 August 2023 to Sunday, 13 August 2023.
This was the second time DUT has participated at the fair, and the Library, Writing Centre and the Department of Graphic Design were co-hosts at the DUT book stand. The 2023 event was on a much bigger scale, attracting many more literary partners, authors, schools and members of the public.
A national research infrastructure funded by the Department of Science and Innovation, the South African Centre for Digital Language Resources (SADiLaR) conducted a Durban University of Technology (DUT) Language Resources Audit with staff and students at the Coastlands Musgrave Hotel on Friday, 11 August 2023.
The audit was divided into two sessions, a staff session in the morning and a student session in the afternoon. Both sessions were facilitated by Ms Andiswa Bukula, IsiXhosa researcher from SADiLaR.

Being an adaptive graduate and ensuring she utilises her knowledge of entrepreneurship tonurturing small businesses is what drivesSnelisiwe Hlongwane, the marketing officer at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) Centre for Social Entrepreneurship Rapid Incubator (CSRI).Her collaborative efforts have been instrumental in supporting and nurturing small businesses within the university and outside the university, providing entrepreneurs with the tools and guidance necessary to thrive in today’s competitive business landscape.
DUT AWARDED RUNNERS WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE 2023 COMRADES MARATHON
The Durban University of Technology (DUT) recently hosted a Comrades Marathon luncheon at the DUT Hotel School, Ritson campus. The luncheon themed, ‘Recognising Excellence’ aimed at acknowledging and awarding those that took part at this year’s Comrades Marathon. The luncheon was facilitated by Mpumelelo Shangase, Sport Administrator from the Sport Administration Unit.

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) approved the ENVISION2030 Living Values Framework. The five values are identified as transparency, honesty, integrity, respect, and accountability. The principles espoused are fairness, professionalism, commitment, compassion, and excellence.
