Good News Again!
The date for our brainstorming meeting has been confirmed for Saturday, August 26th from 10AM- Noon in Stevenson Hall.
This is the opportunity for everyone who attends to present ideas and actions that address the two challenges for St. Patrick’s that have priority over the next few months.
The first challenge is Membership Growth with subheadings that include welcoming and incorporating new members, Christian Education, social activities and inclusiveness. We will be expecting ideas about what social activities work best; what kind of advertising is effective, and what can St. Patrick’s do to be more inclusive.
The second challenge is Financial Stability with subheadings such as pledge campaign, strategic spending and use of designated funds. We will be expecting ideas about tithing as a guide to giving; what might be left out of the 2024 budget and legacy giving, leaving a gift in your will.
No ideas will be turned down and no decisions will be made at the meeting, but all the ideas will then go to the vestry and the appropriate ministry committees for action. We will follow up and report.
We are confident that ideas and suggestions from all the members, not just the priest or the vestry, will be the foundation for the most effective action.
Please plan to attend, and bring your good news ideas with you.
By the way, we will have a demonstration of the (Re) Start bins that holds supplies for people who suffer from a natural disaster such as a wildfire or an earthquake. This is a Diocesan and Deanery project that St. Patrick’s is part of.
You will be impressed at this outreach endeavor. It has proved to be extremely valuable.
And yes, there will be snacks at the meeting.
Blessings,
Father Ed

A Message From Your Senior Warden
|
|
|
Dear fellow parishioners,
Things are happening around St. Patrick's!
Please come to the "Brainstorming Session" Sat. Aug 26, 10am-12noon, which will be a time for everyone to give ideas about where we as a parish are headed. There will be light refreshments served. Please stay after to help set up for the Parish Picnic happening the next day, Sunday Aug. 27th--and come enjoy yummy food, great fellowship, and fun music provided by "The Love Choir!"
As we move forward into the fall season, a "Pledge Campaign Luncheon" is planned for Sunday Oct. 22nd, during which we will hear from the Stewardship Committee @ pledging our support for 2024.
At the ANNUAL MEETING in January 2024, there will be an election of several new Vestry members, as SIX members will have completed their terms by the end of this year, including Jackie Senter, Sarah Phillips, Sandy Keith, Marilyn Ganz, Merle Holtzen, all of whom were elected in 2021. Leslie Clark will have completed Ann Schneider's term. Chuck Wood, Wendy Wood and Minerva Haddad will remain.
Due to many factors, the usual rotation of choosing three new members each year has been disrupted. There will be a difference in the length of the terms served by the six new members as follows: Three will be elected to serve 3 years; two will be elected to serve 2 years; one will be elected to serve 1 year.
If you are interested in serving on the Vestry, please contact Jackie Senter, Sr. Warden or Father Ed Howell.
Thank you for your attention and for showing your love of St. Patrick's!
Blessings and God's peace to all,
Jackie Senter, Sr. Warden

Choir Returns to Rehearsal
|
|
|
Choir will have its first rehearsal on Thursday, August 17th from 6:30 to 8:00 in the Sanctuary. The first choir Sunday singing at service will be Sunday, September 10th. We are returning a bit earlier to get a few more weeks of practice in, so we can start our Holiday Concert rehearsing earlier than last year!
We invite anyone who is interested in singing with us to come check out a rehearsal throughout our first few weeks of practice to see if it is for you!
We particularly encourage male voices, which would even out our choir!
If you have any questions, please contact Mark Kratz or Doug Richardson.

Greetings Friends! Check out Eleanor's thankful note to her volunteers from Monday, August 14th. The team will return again on August 28th.
|
|
Dear All,
Thank you to Pam/Larry, Andrew, Ned, driver Tomi , trainee Omar and rep Arturo. (Omar is a really nice guy, but will NOT be replacing our beloved Arturo!)
54 households/190 individuals received food tonight = HUGE WHOOPEE!!!!! We began about 4:40 and had a slow but constant flow until 6:00 !!! Thankfully, we didn't have to turn anyone away with no food!
REF has said they plan to increase veggies/fruit and they have! They sent a LOT of green peppers - up to 12 per family (overkill?!) ; huge, beautiful heads of cauliflower; 10,000 carrots; grapes and other fruit; not much of, but had 2 varieties of milk; chicken and eggs; no bread nor sweets; a few other misc food items. Again, it's great seeing people passing by items because they don't need them right now.
The volunteer schedule for Aug 28: Joel/Anna, Beth and Ned (because you said you could!) With the current situation, four volunteers plus one extra (me) is working well!
This was another blessed night of making a real difference for those needing food. Thank you to REFB and our volunteers!
Eleanor
