Dear <<First Name>>,

I had a birdie-full time with Minister Bruce Ralston at the 28th annual ASEAN Charity Golf Dinner supporting The Violence Stops Here.
Thank you Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver Arlene Magno for being such a wonderful host. We are fortunate to have over 250,000 British Columbians with family roots in many ASEAN member countries.
B.C. remains committed to fostering deeper friendships and enhancing our relationships with ASEAN member countries. Cultural exchange and collaboration are paramount to “drive” the vibrancy of our community, together!

This week, I attended the 2nd annual BC Dumpling Festival. I had such a great time with new and old friends getting to eat all kinds of delicious dumplings! I can't wait to attend again next year.
Here are some things I'd like to share with you from the past week:

Preparing for extreme fire conditions

The province is preparing for extreme fire behaviour due to potential dry lightning and strong winds.

Before travelling anywhere within the province, check for road closures, evacuation alerts, evacuation orders and other prohibitions, such as BC Parks closures.

Follow all instructions from First Nations or local authorities, including evacuation alerts or evacuation orders.

Chinese communities connected to services on Weibo

British Columbians now have more options to access government information and services with the recent launch of the province’s verified account on Weibo, which removes barriers for English learners whose primary language is simplified Chinese.

Many newcomers to B.C. struggle to access accurate, timely and reliable information in their principal language.

The addition of a Weibo channel marks a step by the province to connect more people to the services and information, delivered in their preferred language on their preferred social media platform.

Enhancing local extreme temperature preparedness will keep people safer

Building on ongoing work with local communities to prepare for extreme temperatures, new funding will help assess and plan for the risks of extreme heat and cold that B.C. has been experiencing due to climate change.

In addition to colder winters, people across the province are feeling the impacts of hotter summers and heat waves.

This funding will also help support communities in developing the tools and knowledge they need to better protect people during these extreme weather events.

Premier’s statement on Northwest Territories wildfires

We are working actively with the Northwest Territories and western provinces to provide all the support we can.

Canadians stand together in hard times and B.C. is ready to help the people of the Northwest Territories, just as other provinces have assisted us in times of need.
