elevating voices.
Friends,
We've had a wonderful time celebrating Black Philanthropy Month throughout August.
The primary aims of Black Philanthropy Month are informing, involving, inspiring and investing in Black philanthropic leadership to strengthen African-American and African-descent giving in all its forms, for the benefit of our planet, our communities, our organizations, and our lives.
It was wonderful seeing so many women in our community at WGC's Black Philanthropy Month Happy Hour on Tuesday, August 1 at The 3rd. We heard about "elevate" from WGC Advisory Board Members Laura Bacon, Kashonna Marrow, and Candace Dodson-Reed. "elevate" is The 3rd's new leadership development program for Women of Color in Howard County that we are honored and excited to support. And, we celebrated four women philanthropists in our community - Antoinette Brown, Jetheda Hernandez, LaJoy Y Mosby, and Robin Stimson through WGC's "Our Giving, Our Stories", led by former WGC Advisory Board Member Malynda Madzel. I invite you to read each of their inspirational profiles here.
As Malynda has said, "I am so excited to lead the effort to elevate the voices of women in our community who give back in so many ways."
Elevating the important stories of how women and girls are giving is critical as we work to engage others in collectively addressing issues in our community.
Our thanks to so many women and girls in our community for your voices, your stories, and all that you do to make a difference in Howard County.
What inspires you to give?
I find it important at times to take a step back and determine if your giving aligns with what is important to you. If supporting women and girls in Howard County is on your list, I encourage you to support our ongoing, important work. You can learn a bit more about the WGC here, look at our grantmaking here, read about our ongoing efforts here and here, and review all the ways that you can give to the WGC here.
Thank you for being a part of the Women's Giving Circle of Howard County, where we are having a greater impact together than we might otherwise have alone on behalf of women and girls in our community!
Sincerely,
Jennifer Bodensiek
