Perseverance

It is amazing just how many things challenge us to give up and to stop doing the work that God has called us to do. Sometimes it is the very people you are called to reach as they do not want to know or follow Jesus. Other times it is the circumstances you find yourself in and their challenges. And then there are times when things happen between co-workers. The enemy can use any or all of these things to destroy, dishearten, and dissuade us from the work God has called us to do.
The writer of Hebrews was writing to believers who had that going on and more as the government was taking their property and people were threatening their very lives.
He tells them: So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised.- Hebrews 10:34-35

God's call is to reach the lost and to make disciples. We dare not give in or give up.
We need to lean into the One who called us and choose to believe Him that He may use even us to redeem the souls of men.

Please pray for Canada and keep praying with and for us as we serve Him.

Family

Big Summer for These Boys

Elijah & Josiah got to travel with Philip for 4 weeks, going to the Adventure Team in DC and Maine for Mom's Birthday, down to Tampa for Access, and then to Indiana for the Momentum conference. Just 8 days after that trip, we got to serve at Community of Hope's Summer Fun @ the Park for a week, and at the end of that week, Renew Church came for the Grace Summit and we had such a good time with our Grace Fellowship Family. Just to take a few days' break before driving down to see Tim & Lydia, and the girls. On the way back, we got to stop at the Army Museum - very cool! - Let's say Elijah was in his glory telling us about all the equipment we saw. It has been a great summer of fun and ministry together. (You can follow many of these journeys with pictures on my facebook account.)
Beth & Philip got to celebrate 30 years of marriage together. So thankful!
Please pray for:
  • Ana - Second year at Grace College is starting now. Pray for other work as she is looking for a better job.
  • Alissa -  Last year of college at Simon Frasier University - Pray she finishes well.
  • Elijah - Online bible discussions with unsaved gaming friend from Ontario. Elijah starts grade 11 and turns 16 on the 17 of September.
  • Josiah - Still waiting on discoveries about Josiah's health, pray for a great start to grade 9 as school begins in just a few weeks.
  • Beth - balancing work, ministry, and people's needs (Lydia is expecting in September, Beth will go down to help out when baby comes)
  • Philip - A major shift in ministry focus is happening for Philip as he will be focusing most of his attention on the ministry in Canada. Pray for vision, plans and funding.

Assist Church Expansion

We had our first Assist Adventure Team this summer in DC. June 24-July 1st. There was a lot packed into a week of ministry. We served with About My Father's Business in downtown DC, visiting homeless shelters and learning a lot about inner city ministry; we served Lanham Grace as they are looking to relaunch this September, doing carwashes, flyer distribution, and park ministries. We got to help out The Well in Towson, MD, as they just started their church plant from the movie theater there in Towson in January. We served alongside the Chamber of Commerce and helped out at the farmer's market, did park and street cleanup in inner-city Baltimore, and got to pack special bags for those in need. We got to go and serve Grace Fellowship, Brunswick, MD. They purchased an older building, and we were able to help with some painting and yard work and also run a carwash and later and kids outreach at the park. Along the way, we did evangelism training and visited a Hindu Temple and a Turkish Mosque.

We would love for you and your church to join us next summer. We are planning 3 different adventures. You can check them out here: https://adventureteams.assistcx.org/
We are excited to see two relaunches this fall be in prayer for Lanham Grace Church and Hope City Church (Norwalk Grace). Pray for leaders for the churches we are helping find new pastors, and please be in prayer for the many churches we are coaching and partnering with.

Grace Fellowship Canada

The Grace Summit

Renew church sent a bunch of people to Vancouver, and they served alongside Community of Hope at Summer Fun @ the Park. We got to have fun on Saturday, and we had a fantastic banquet Saturday evening with sharing from our key leaders from our Canadian churches. It was a great time to serve together and grow together.

Please keep Renew Church in your prayers. Renew is looking for a Sunday morning venue as they are currently meeting on Sunday afternoon. Pray with Pastor Bartley and the team there as they are facing huge financial challenges as their rental cost has increased significantly.

Please keep Community of Hope in your prayers. CoH had a great summer outreach and touched many people; pray for follow-up and for new families and salvation. CoH is excited that this Thursday, they will have a baptism. Keep praying for CoH as they had to let go of their youth leader as they are behind budget right now. As this is a strong youth group, we pray for leaders and for the church to grow.

Pray for Canada. We are discussing Philip's role and how we can make Canada a higher priority. We are praying we can find more leaders, start new churches and strengthen the existing churches. There is a lot we are asking God for, but we know He is able.
