Introduction

(by Paul Oxborough, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees)

This month's newsletter is really a call to action because we need your help! Behind any good charity is an army of volunteers all beavering away to oil the cogs of an incredible machine. But we need some very specific beavers to help with some key jobs. If you've been inspired by our charity and have some time on your hands why not join the team?

Read on to see what those jobs are and how you can get involved...

A few words from Trustee Karen Cole about these volunteer roles

Things are getting very busy at Mental Health Motorbike with new Mental Health First Aider’s joining us every month.  Our fantastic team of Regional Coordinators is growing rapidly, and in turn they are recruiting a band of merry men and women to take on Area Coordinator duties and we are very pleased to welcome them all.

The Trustees are incredibly excited about the future - but we are struggling to keep up, so we need a hand (or three)!

Consequently we are looking to recruit 3 keen volunteers with excellent administration skills and a passion to help ensure that the important day to day tasks are not ignored. These Roles whilst routine, are key to helping ensure that Mental Health Motorbike can continue to expand to reach more bikers needing support than ever before.

All 3 roles require the use of Google Office, so some experience of this would be preferable, but even I have learned how to use it after 30 years of working with Outlook. You’d also have to get used to the Slack and JotForm Apps.

I have provided a brief overview of what we are looking for below, but this is not a comprehensive specification.  If you would like to receive more details please contact me directly karen@mhmotorbike.com with details of which role interests you and I will send you the role specification to consider.

Administration Assistant

The post holder would be  well organised and a great communicator, able to deal with enquiries from a range of people and organisations -  in fact anyone who might contact MHMotorbike for any reason!  Enjoying multi tasking and a willingness to undertake a large variety of admin tasks is essential.  The main task will be taking charge of the info@mhmotobike.com email address, answering all enquiries and directing the email to the appropriate person (and following up to make sure it has been addressed).  Alongside this are a couple of smaller routine tasks which are sometimes neglected due to time constraints.

MHFA Training Administrator (MHFA Course Support)

This post requires a methodical mind and good communication skills, and covers all the tasks that are required to support our learners once they start their MHFA course. Work includes updating a rota to ensure that we have MHFA Course Support Volunteers available to cover all 4 course sessions. Assisting with recruitment and training of these volunteers as required and follow ups with all the new MHFA’s, including sending out congratulation emails to those who have just passed the MHFA course, posting their ‘Green badge’ sticker and looking after all the admin needed for the monthly Zoom induction sessions. Posting out leaflets and other promotional materials as requested is also part of this role. (MHMotorbike has a post office account that is used to pay for postage).

Events Administrator

This is a post that would suit someone methodical and well organised who can put some additional structure around our events attendance.  The post holder would be recording all the events that MhMotorbike attends, ensuring that all the correct details are submitted by the event organiser and that appropriate requests for volunteers are made.  The postholder would also update the MHMotorbike website calendar and in addition create a posting on the Events section of the  Motorbike Facebook page and the Facebook Support group.

Why not sign up to do a future MHFA course and be part of this life saving community...?
