8.9.2023 - The trail crew did a lot of work at the campground. Weed whacking, fuel reduction and firewood processing were all accomplished. Photos from those activities are included here. Most of the focused attention was on one tree threading the restroom being rebuilt. Cheers, Mark Anderson, Volunteer Trail Crew member and photographer with Stewards.

Trail Crew is looking for assistance in responding to trail problems. If you are interested in helping report problems simply notify our Stewards Volunteer Trail Crew Coordinator (Rich Lawton) at rangerrlawton@aol.com. If you notice problems while hiking the trail at Armstrong Redwoods SNR, Austin Creek SRA, Sonoma Coast SP or the Willow Creek Watershed please take a few photos, one distant shot to show the overall problem and one close up. Please get a good location and a quick note of the problem (clogged culvert, tree blocking the trail, brush overgrown blocking the trail, etc.)

8.8.2023 - Conservation Corps North Bay worked with State Park trail crew staff this past recently in their containing efforts to prepare the Waterfall Trail in Armstrong Redwoods to be open to the public. This trail has been closed since the Walbridge Fire that decimated many of the trees and trails in Armstrong Redwoods in 2020. Expected date for reopening is fall of 2023.

Above clockwise, boards have been laid on the boundary of the trail which will soon be replaced by cross fence; clearing the trail of debris; Justin preparing the ground for a small bridge; CCNB crew bringing road base up the hill.
Photos below, the beginning of the Waterfall Trail; members of CCNB clearing debris with wheel barrels; the creek at the site of the old bridge (burned) still running in August.
