Spring into Armadale is set to bloom!

Hello Spring into Armadale and hello Djilba season! Even though it’s still technically winter, we’re too excited and just need to share all the exciting events that are happening between now and November. The Perth Hills Armadale Visitor Centre will be hosting pop-ups at numerous events during Spring into Armadale such as Araluen Tulip Festival, Kelmscott Show and the Perth Royal Show. We’re excited to welcome the AWESOME Armadale Kids’ Festival this year, plus 70 events including arts workshops, exhibitions, markets, history walk trails and so much more! Outside the Frame Art Awards
This exhibition showcases inspiring contemporary artworks by young artists across Perth. Open to students in year 11 and 12 in the metropolitan region, high schools have put forward student works across seven categories such as painting, drawing, paint making, sculpture, textiles, digital media/photography and mixed media.
 
Outside the Frame’s opening awards night is open to the public. Join the City of Armadale on Friday, 11 August from 7pm and have the first glance of some amazing talent this year. You can also vote in the People’s Choice Award and go into a draw to win a prize.
 
The Outside the Frame Art Awards is a family friendly, smoke and alcohol free event.
 
The exhibition starts from Saturday, 12 August until Sunday, 20 August from 11am until 4pm.

It’s Yates Springtime at Araluen
Araluen Botanic Park gives you over 150,000 reasons to go visit their Tulip Festival. During the spring festival, Araluen Botanic Park is transformed with blooming tulips, endless fun activities and food vendors, making it the perfect outing for any day of the week!
 
The Perth Hills Armadale Visitor Centre will be hosting a pop-up information centre where you can learn more about our beautiful region, so be sure to come see us to collect brochures, pick up local goodies and souvenirs, walking trail maps, and more! Araluen Botanic Park will be open from Friday 18 August until Monday 2 October 2023, from 9am until 6pm.

Free Guided Tour of ‘Yesterday’s World’
Travel back in time with a guided tour of the Bert Tyler Vintage Machinery Museum and Telegraph Centre. Our knowledgeable local tour guide will keep you entertained by sharing stories and bringing the museum to life. The tour will end with a relaxing complimentary morning tea.

Who doesn't enjoy driving to a local market and picking up local and fresh goodies! If you're looking for something fun and exciting to do on the weekend, look no further than our local markets between August and September.
 

      Roleystone Markets 

Roleystone Markets are nestled in a beautiful bushland landscape environment and feature the best of WA's handmade items. Visit and take in the beautiful spring in Roleystone, where there are over 100 vendors. There will be food trucks to satisfy everyone's appetite. There will be plenty of free activities for the entire family, including bubbles, huge games, face painting, and live music. Explore Roleystone Spring Markets on Sunday, 17 September from 10am until 3pm.

      Bedfordale Bush Markets 

Jump in the car and take a short yet scenic drive to a beautiful part of Armadale and visit the Bedfordale Bush Markets, a country-style local market with a different theme each month. Bedfordale Bush Markets features locally grown produce, food vendors, art and crafts, nature play, sustainability, and entertainment. Bedfordale Bush Markets will run from Saturday, 12 August and Saturday, 9 September from 9am until 1pm.

      Piara Waters Farmers and Artisan Markets 

Spend your Sunday morning at the farmers and artisan market in Piara Waters. Enjoy the welcoming, community-minded vibes, and browse a variety of local creators and artisan goodies whilst enjoying a bite to eat and a cup of coffee. Every two weeks, Piara Waters Farmers and Artisan Markets host fun activities for the kids and talented buskers from 8am until 12pm.

Enjoy the wildflowers of the Perth Hills Armadale
As spring slowly approaches, here’s your chance to catch wildflowers in full bloom and experience the natural beauty of the City of Armadale and the Perth Hills Armadale region through a range of great guided walks.
 
The Wildflowers Society of Armadale is offering the opportunity to enjoy Bob Blackburn Reserve’s wildflower display within ‘Guided Wildflower Ramble in Bob Blackburn Reserve’ on Sunday, 20 August from 9am to 11am. Located right near the Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre, the beautiful preserved flora in the middle of suburbia contains a mix that represents the beautiful Perth Hills.
 
And if wildflowers are your thing, why not join Janet Atkins for her talk on ‘Western Australian Plants for Perth Hills Gardens’, 14 September, starting at 7.15pm at the Environmental Centre, 8 Triton Crescent Bedfordale. Janet Atkins will share how she has had with growing Western Australian plants within her garden in the Perth Hills for over 40 years along with her favourites that she has had grown.

Spring into Armadale’s AWESOME Arts Festival Hub 
Treat your family to an AWESOME Day Out! The 2023 AWESOME Festival is landing at the Kelmscott Hall on 23 & 24th September where you’ll find free shows, story-telling, and lots of fun activities such as cartooning workshops, Noongar story times, ukulele workshops, rhyme time and so much more!  
 
You can try your hand at circus, get messy with craft activities, or learn a new skill. Running from 10am - 3pm, the AWESOME Day out is suitable for children aged 0-12 years and for grown-ups who are young at heart!
