DUT ENTREPRENEURS TO COMPETE IN THE 2023 GISU URBAN INNOVATION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP FINAL COMPETITION IN ITALY

Four Durban University of Technology (DUT) entrepreneurs, comprising of three DUT staff members and one student, were recently announced as semi-finalists in the 2023 GISU Urban Innovation and Entrepreneurship Semi-Final Competition. They are now gearing up to compete in the finals of the competition which will be held in Padova, Italy on 09 November 2023.

The theme of the annual competition is Promoting Sustainable Urban Development with Scientific and Technological Innovation, focusing on Science Entrepreneurship.

A PHOTOGRAPHY MASTER’S STUDENT, THALENTE KHOMO TO EXHIBIT HER WORK IN INDIA

A Master’s in Applied Arts in Photography student at the Durban University of Technology, Thalente Khomo, has been selected to exhibit her work at the G20 Art Project – Together We Art Exhibition which is currently being held at the Bihar Museum in Patna, India.

Khomo (27) from Gcilima on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, is excited to have received recognition from such a prestigious art institution. The exhibition started on Monday, 07 August 2023 and is set to end on Saturday, 07 October 2023. She is currently in India for the exhibition, after arriving in Patna on Monday, 07 August 2023.

JOURNALISM ALUMNA, NIVASHNI NAIR SUKDHEV TO LAUNCH HER FOURTH BOOK

A Journalism Alumna under the Faculty of Arts and Design at the Durban University of Technology (DUT), Nivashni Nair Sukdhev will be launching her fourth book titled: Pillow Talk at the Durban International Book Fair, to be held at the Globe, Suncoast in Durban on Saturday, 12 August 2023.

The 42-year-old is an award-winning senior journalist at the Sunday Times. Throughout her career, she has interviewed presidents, superstars and travelled throughout KwaZulu-Natal to find untold stories of the ordinary South Africans. She is a mother, journalist, author and a bookworm from Pietermaritzburg. However, she now resides in Durban.

DUT HOSTED ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL CAREER GUIDANCE DAY AT HUNT ROAD SECONDARY SCHOOL

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) recently hosted another successful Career Guidance Day at Hunt Road Secondary School.

This initiative was part of the DUT School Engagement Project, which is headed by the Project Manager, Ms Berenice de La Croix. The project is managed by the DUT Advancement and Alumni Relations unit and it includes a number of internal and external stakeholders.

The Career Guidance Day was primarily designed to promote the academic programmes that DUT offers and to help high learners to navigate their options and to make the right career choices.
