IRIS FAMILY GATHERING, SOUTH AFRICA. JOY OVERFLOWS.
One of the happiest places in the world is an airport arrivals terminal. Expectant families and friends await the arrival of a loved one and as soon as they are seen the loved one who has just arrived is covered with hugs and love. Joy overflows. The same can be said of the Iris Family African Gathering in Nelspruit, South Africa in July. Iris missionaries from all over Africa embraced each other as friends connected as though they were at the arrivals terminal at an airport. All through the week the 190 attendees worshiped the Lord, laughed together, ate together, prayed together and remembered that though they were hundreds of miles apart they all shared the one goal of lifting up the name of Jesus. They were partners in the gospel.
At each of the sessions throughout the week the worship was passionate and the teaching profound. “Waiting is worship” taught Pastor Surpresa. “Jesus is the goal, not missional activites” taught Mama Tryphina. “No compromise” taught Will Hart.
Though the temperature was cold, the passion at the Monday games was hot! Teams from the different locations battled against one another to win an earthly prize. Papa Steve and Francisco tried to keep order – but with no success! It was great fun!
The children too had activities and sessions and learned more of the Lord with the highlight being the knights and princesses dinner where they were reminded of who they were in Jesus.
We heard many testimonies from different locations and were inspired by what the Lord was doing throughout all of Africa, and as we left the camp we were staying at we knew that we had been in the presence of the Lord and that Africa shall be saved.
