You didn't hear from us last week. The annual TEDxSydney flagship event happened on Friday, and yours truly had some happy obligations to fulfill during the leadup period.

Meanwhile, our initial delivery of the new REMO Utility Dress arrived from the maker, and are now ready for you to order. So, what is it?

This is a next generation version of a REMO branded product that we launched in 2008. The idea owes its origin to something Balinese that Melanie wore on most days during an Australian summer way back then. This version, like the original, is made by hand for us right here in Sydney, but this time from a high quality lightweight 100% cotton denim, and with a slightly different neckline to suit the fabric.

Everyone looks good in this super functional dress.

Chinese Finger Trap

A Chinese finger trap is a simple puzzle that traps the victim's fingers (often the index fingers) in both ends of a small cylinder woven from bamboo. The initial reaction of the victim is often to pull their fingers outward, but this only tightens the trap. The way to escape the trap is to counterintuitively push the ends toward the middle, which enlarges the openings and frees the fingers. The Flying Spaghetti Monster (FSM) is the deity of the Pastafarian “religion” … depicted as a creature made from spaghetti and meatballs … with two large, googly eyes on stalks and noodle-like appendages.

The central Pastafarian tenet is that an invisible and undetectable Flying Spaghetti Monster created the universe after drinking heavily. Pirates are revered as the original Pastafarians, their heaven includes a beer volcano and a stripper factory, and every Friday is celebrated as a holy day. Got that?
