September on the ALT

The leaves are changing color, apples are ripening and temps are dropping. It is a wonderful time to be on the Allegheny Trail hiking and volunteering.

September ALT Spotlight

Sept 23rd WVSTA will hold the Kevin Riedel Memorial Hike in Section 4 at Hanging Rock.  Kevin was a dedicated WVSTA volunteer, a great carpenter, accomplished hiker, great friend and always added joy to campfires chats.

Kevin positively impacted many peoples lives on trail, at the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) and in his community while he was with us.  His legacy of caring and helping others still continues on through the FarOut App.  Kevin diligently mapped the entire Allegheny Trail for WVSTA  so it could added to the international gold standard hiking app FarOut.  Think of all the ALT hikers that have already benefited and ALL future hikers will benefit from Kevin’s generosity.  WVSTA is forever grateful to of had Kevin’s involvement in so many ALT projects.

There will be 2 hiking options on 9/23, a memorial service for Kevin at the Raptor Observatory and a cookout that evening . Please email Justin Mullins at justin25801@gmail.com for more information to help us celebrate Kevin.
