Recently I received a ukulele in the mail from a student of mine. He builds BEAUTIFUL instruments. Unfortunately he has developed a serious allergy to the woods he uses and has to stop building. This is the last ukulele he built. He shipped it to me to make a nut/saddle and do a final setup.

He started building ukes following  Jay Lichty's Advanced Ukulele Building Course. Below are some more pics of an instrument he did last year.
"This tenor Ukulele ships out today to Portland, Oregon! It’s my fourth long scale Uke made with Jay Lichty plans and it’s a sweet sounding instrument. It has a Koa top, Gaboon Ebony back and sides, Mahogany neck, Ebony fingerboard, bridge, and Rosette accented with abalone. The tuning machines are Rubner’s with bearings to make the tuning very smooth and easy to bring up to pitch."  Robbie Kilchenstein

Jay's instruments are truly works of art and in his online course he teaches how to add all the bells and whistles to your instruments. These include: zero fret, soundport, arm bevel, slotted and bound headstock, bound fretboard, mitered purflings, and a cutaway!! He also shows how he achieves a professional high gloss finish using water based products! Jay's Advanced Ukulele Building Course is available on the Lutherie Academy website
