Dear Student Life Colleagues,
I am writing you to share a personal update. As many of you are aware for more than a year, I have been on my pancreatic cancer journey. There have been peaks and valleys, and the road has most definitely had twists and turns. I have prioritized my personal health, my family, and the love for the work that I get to do for Creighton and for students.
At this point of my journey, it is time for me to focus more attentively on regaining my physical strength and stamina. I will also be taking part in a clinical trial at the University of Kansas Medical Center. To do this, I will be taking a leave from Creighton in the hopes that this more concentrated focus on me will let me continue to do the work I am called to do. With the hope of being able to return to my role and responsibilities more fully once again in Student Life.
Today is the last day I will be with you for a while. Provost Wilson will be providing information in the near future about leadership during the transition to ensure you have the support you need to continue your important work.
I ask for your continued prayers and support. You all will be in my prayers, and I will continue to be your biggest fan. Know that you have a piece of my heart. You are amazing individuals and as a collective you can accomplish more than you can dream possible. Continue to be guided by our mission, our vision, and your love for Creighton. I have a Caring Bridge site if you would like receive updates on my journey: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/tanyawinegard
Yours truly,
Tanya
