How Deep is Your Life?

Dear Reader,

We recently attended the funeral and celebration of life for a young man, who at the age of 26, unexpectedly and from natural causes, passed away. Now this was a sad affair, it was a funeral after all, but it was also very inspirational as we celebrated his short life.

What we learned, what I especially learned, was that this was a young man who was a child of God, who attended church on Sundays, and afterwards would phone both sets of grandparents to speak with him, who supported his mom and his sister after his dad had passed away only eight months before. This was a man who was representing the person who didn't have a voice, or the person that's not powerful in their community, as a young politician working in the office of the local member of parliament.

So he was an admirable young man, but what really struck home was when the pastor, during his service, said that he learned this person to be a person of substance, and he didn't need a long life, because he had a life with incredible depth, depth of relationships.

That made me think, what is it about us, in our lives? We think you need to have a long life, you have to live until you're 90 or 100 and that will make you special, whereas we should rather think of how deep is our life, not the length of the life, the depth of the life.

How many people are we inspiring? How many people are we supporting? Who are we on this planet for? What is our purpose?

So I want to challenge you in this coming week, let's learn from this young man. It gave me so much joy to just learn from what he left behind, what his legacy is, and it inspired me to try and emulate some of that in my life. Let's all do this and we'll all find more joy for ourselves, but more importantly we'll share more joy for the rest of the world.

Have a fantastic week.
