Positive Thought + Positive Action = Joy
Dear Reader,
I started my run this morning feeling light and full of energy. Very soon though, I found my thoughts running into the the days in the week ahead, and I started getting stuck in the details and I felt my energy diminish.
So I stopped and I made a deal with myself. I said to myself, before you have a negative thought, just think about how light your legs feel and how you're lifting your knees because of that lightness - and it's really important to add that action after the positive thought.
This helped me as I was running, all the time, to whenever my thoughts would go somewhere negative, to think, oh I'm feeling light! I'm lifting my knees, I'm feeling better! Even though tiredness crept in, and you know, the lightness wasn't always there over the run, every time I started drifting into negative land I could lift my thoughts and I could have a positive action.
So I want to recommend this to you. Whenever you get stuck, whenever you're in a place where you feel yourself being dragged down by your thoughts, just focus on that 20% of lightness - even if there's 80% of heaviness or darkness - focus on that 20%. Say to yourself, I'm working with that portion and I'm adding to it - very important to add that something to it, because it lifts yourself from the negative thought and it brings a positive action.
There you have it, your thought for this week. It'll bring you tons of joy, because it helped me on my run and I could come back with a positive attitude, ready to start the week.
