Both Bob and Monica generously put their legal skills to use on behalf of NWJP clients. Monica's dedication to representing and centering workers, including teachers and firefighters and their unions, was outstanding and deeply impactful. Monica often co-counseled cases and filed amicus curiae briefs with NWJP. After many years as a paralegal and lawyer representing working people, Bob served as an Oregon Court of Appeals Judge for 16 years. After retiring, Bob often volunteered to help NWJP lawyers "moot court" to prepare for important upcoming legal arguments. Both Bob and Monica served on community boards, including the PCUN Foundation, and were members of the National Lawyers Guild Portland Chapter.
We sorely miss Monica and Bob and deeply appreciate their spirit and commitment to justice.
They were workers for lived justice.
