Who Cares for the Caregiver?

Dear Reader,

Don't you love it when sometimes, very serendipitously, circumstances just seem to come together and you come to a point where you can make 1 plus 1 equal, not 2, but 3. You're the single connection point and by connecting the dots, you're actually adding more value.

This happened to me recently when an old friend and colleague sent me a note. He is following these newsletters of mine and he wanted to tell me about a project that he's been working with.

Over the last few years, he and his family have ended up in the role of caregiving and he wanted to tell me more about a project called 'Stories for Caregivers'. You can find this online at storiesforcaregivers.com

This resource is there to take care of the caregivers, to bring them resources and help them feel appreciated and connected. The idea is to encourage them, because they're encouraging people every day.

And who is taking care of the caregiver?

When I saw this, I was immediately reminded of a dear friend. She's a friend of my mother's back in South Africa. She's taking care of her husband who is suffering from dementia or Alzheimer's, I'm not 100% sure which. The point is that this brilliant ex-school principal, who was very articulate before and was the person to go to for answers, is now someone who has to come to his wife for answers every day.

She takes care of him every day. I've seen, I've just had a glimpse of this, to see how 24/7 this is, and how relentless this is.

So I immediately thought, okay, what I'll do is I'll do this: I'll get her to also get this resource. She's on the other side of the planet, but I'm sure the stories will encourage and help her as well.

I want her story to encourage you to think of people in your life that may need this help. Maybe you're a caregiver yourself, so go to the website or refer others there. Go listen to some of these stories. These are real stories of actual caregivers handling difficult and sometimes different situations. See how this can help yourself and others.

Thank you to my friend who shared this with me so we can share it with the world.

Please go to storiesforcaregivers.com. , spread the joy and have a great week.
Hope you find this useful. More of the same can be found on nicohuman.com or by following me on LinkedIn, Facebook or YouTube.
